This is the arc is the arc that got me into the show. A tournament arc always does it for me + new characters? Bingo. Can’t wait to watch you guys react to this arc.

Goddammit. I've grown up watching naruto, followed it for over a decade, but it takes me Aaron spelling it out for me to notice that the emblem of the sand village is an hourglass. Felling veeeery stupid.

If you think about it, naruto,sasuke and sakura’s genin experience was so unfair. They do a bunch of D ranks and then their first C rank is an A rank against a missing nin, a kekkei genkai user and a crime lord and then next thing that happens is the chuunin exams. I’m not gonna say what happens next.

So many great reactions to character introductions in this episode! I am honestly very excited for every week going forward now for quite some time. Also yay they got the Bruce Lee reference. (As a fellow ginger, I feel the pain of invisible eyebrows. It's okay Gaara. I know.)

I wish there was something like a "Naruto: Kai" that would take out the endless flashbacks and runtime-padding scenes. Or maybe a "Naruto: Brotherhood".

Rock Lee is based off Bruce Lee so good thing you saw that resemblance. Also fun fact: Rock Lee and Sakura were first created to symbolise human weakness in the show.

I agree, I think the female characters are the worse written part of the series, it gets better but it starts off pretty rough with some of the characters only seeming to care about boys and literally nothing else.

That illusion floor scene is actually different in the sub which is more in line with the manga. I have no idea what the dub changes the lines here. Sakura was actually surprised and then thanks Sasuke in the sub. In dub, we don’t get that and it’s made to sound like she was playing along. Basically Sasuke was cheering Sakura up. Remember he noticed that she seemed different. So he reassured her that she must have noticed the genjustu first and then praised her analytical skills . Tbh Sakura probably did notice the genjustu but was already feeling down about these Chunin exams so distracted.

Also, I think the hidden in the sand, hidden in the leaves title of the villages is just a title and doesn't actually literally mean they are hidden, at least how I interpreted it from watching the series

Correction: Iruka is only Chunin, not the same rank as Kakashi and teacher of other teams, which is Jonin
