Swordsmen in the Demon Slayer Corps known as Hashiras have arrived on Mt. Natagumo. Giyu Tomioka, the Water Hashira, slays the Father Spider Demon with a single strike. Inosuke, thrilled to see such a display of swordsmanship by someone in a totally different league from himself, challenges Giyu to a duel. Meanwhile, Zenitsu lies near death as the poison circulates throughout his body. Just then, the Insect Hashira, Shinobu Kocho appears before him.

When Nezuko wakes up, that part always fucking gets me. Easily my favorite episode of any anime in 2019.

It just so happens his traditional family dance has a breathing technique that would allow him to keep going and fight. Usually you wouldn't associate a dance technique with a fighting technique. It was a desperate attempt to keep fighting and it worked.

Since we are introduced to the 12 Kizuki and their numbering system: all the 12 have their number engraved into their eyes. The order from top to bottom: Upper Moon 1 Upper 2 Upper 3 Upper 4 Upper 5 Upper 6 Lower Moon 1 Lower 2 Lower 3 Lower 4 Lower 5 Lower 6 Rui was Lower Moon 5, so you can say he was second weakest. Enjoyed the reaction, cant wait for next weeks!

I’m not sure that I like the way they changed the dialogue for Tanjiro’s father. He said that he wanted to pass them down and that they were his gift. However, in the original dub he says that the dance and especially the earrings must be passed down to him and that this was the promise he made. To who? We don’t know yet, but it makes you wonder what is so special about the dance and earrings that they have to be passed down

I can understand Rick’s criticism. The whole Fire Breathing did come out of left field. But there are subtle breadcrumbs that make it work. 1. Tanjiro was VERY young when he learned about this. And doesn’t look back on it all that much. 2. We know Muzan fears someone who looks like Tanjiro’s father during that brief flashback he had, indicating that his family DOES have a long rivalry with Kibitsuji. And 3. The breathing technique was only for dancing, not for fighting. So Tanjiro didn’t feel to put those things together at the time.

Also, random thought: Am I the only one who feels the dad used that breathing technique for things OTHER than dancing? Because I’m just saying, Tanjiro first saw him do it when he was like, 5, and Nezuko was like, 2. Which was many years, and four siblings ago. >B)

Technically there is hints to the dad in the ending sequence. I remember coming up with all kinds of fun theories from just the few shots we see of him. Took me a while to get there too, which is why I never skip openings and endings. Even if I’m bingeing. Something to think about, but I know not to expect too much if Rick has his way. Curse you and your preemptive buttoning, you fiend!

To point something out Zenitsu's scene with butterfly girl did foreshadow the whole life flashing before your eyes type deal, which Tanjiro did go through in that instance, that could have jogged his memory alittle bit

During first watch I usually don’t think about plot holes as much because it IS anime. The animation is what did it for me and I feel that this way of revealing the fire breath lifts the episode because almost everything except the water dragon is not expected and instead builds on top one after the other. I understand where Rick’s going with this though cause I kinda felt the same. The hints were very subtle and easy to miss since the pace of the show has been very fast and action packed. I can only piece these things together about Demon Slayer from rewatching it over and over through reactions and then the discussions after. It’s funny because Rick was usually asking the right questions when there was a hint in past episodes but then his line of thought and predictions would run a bit crazy.

also Eric you did miss when the scar changed he was injured during the final selection the big gross demon broke his mask and that's when it changed I don't know why it changed so much I just know that's when it started to change

I guess I understand your point of the father's importance being out of nowhere. But their deal with fire has always been hinted at since the very beginning. The guy who made Tanjiro's sword was hoping he would get a red blade, because it was said his red hair and eyes indicate he comes from a family that deals with fire. Tanjiro's bloodline seems to be a very special case, since it seems Muzan is so dead set on killing him due to that flashback early on showing him being defeated by a demon slayer with very much the same hair color and earrings as Tanjiro. Tanjiro not remembering his father's technique might be due to the fact it was indeed a technique not specifically for fighting. In general it seems to be for this fire dance and to ensure you don't get exausted while doing so. The subtle hints were all there, well except for the father which is understandably a flaw in the story. But it's still a great story with some damn perfection in execution. Enjoyed the reaction, was kinda very much my reaction to this episode

also the sword smith mention that Tanjiro reddish eyes and hair with his family working with FIRE was good luck so the connection with Tanjiro and fire has been in the show since the beginning.

Because the old scar looked like a weird birthmark, and the new one looks badass, they had to visually show his change after Final Selection, since he looks the same as before his training like some protags, *DEKU*.

I'll have you guys know!!! That the Japanese voice actress for Nezuko, Akari Kito, is always part of everything and appears quite often on Kimetsu Radio! 😤 Her little "mmmhmm!" and "hmphhmph" are important! 😂
