Came here for that speech, stayed for Maisie Williams!

The girl and the choice are interesting. The execution I find quite poor mostly next episode.

Brian Barnes

The director on this episode, Ed Balzagette, was the lead guitarist for 80’s rock band The Vapors. You might remember them for their one hit wonder “Turning Japanese”

Sometimes Moffat need to tie everything back is a problem but I really love that call back to the face and tying it to who the doctor is. Also it is a crossover between my favorite pairings.

Dannielle

"Capaldi is better than the scripts given to him, he elevates everything." Have never agreed with a sentence more. Love how much Eric loves and appreciates Peter Capaldi. Easily the best actor to play the role.

Nick Earl

I disagree, I think they show the painful and emotionally heartbreaking consequences of the Doctor's choice brilliantly, and make us question his role in the universe. In my view, it's one of the deepest studies of the Doctor since Family of Blood and Good Man Goes To War.....or at least until the stupid Lion Man shows up.

Nick Earl

Matt Smith will always be my favourite doctor, but I love this season and Capaldi is central to everything brilliant in it.

Ngl I remember watching this episode and thinking it was total shit :)

Kevin Bartelen

Because of the multi-doctor cross-overs every doctor has seen the face they would take next before they took it aside from the newest doctor. There's still time for her to cross-over with Capaldi though so there's still room for someone to make "taking a face he knows" an actual thing if they wanted to.

Brian Barnes

Did anyone else see the lightbulb go off over Eric’s head when Ashildir says, “I tell you leaving this village is death itself”?

Bekah

"I SAW BABY GENIUSES" I almost died laughing.

An ok episode with a couple of really great moments. I'll probably skip next week tho. Bleh.

The face thing was actually Russell T Davies idea. "We are aware that Peter Capaldi’s played a part in Doctor Who before and we’re not going to ignore the fact", Moffat admitted. "I’ll let you in on this. I remember Russell told me he had a big old plan as to why there were two Peter Capaldis in the Who universe, one in Pompeii and one in Torchwood. When I cast Peter, [Russell] got in touch to say how pleased he was I said 'Okay, what was your theory and does it still work?' and he said 'Yes it does, here it is'. So I don’t know if we’ll get to it… we’ll play that one out over time. It’s actually quite neat". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JeCM7LiThEs

Super Duper Paratrooper

I'd pay $5 per month for a podcast where Peter Capaldi and Tom Baker take turns reading definitions from a dictionary.
