The girl from game of thrones was supposed to be Clara’s replacement but at the last minute she decided to stay so they put her characteristics in a future companion

EDITRON

I'd have taken her instead of another season of Clara.

Nick Earl

Bloody hell, this episode is a LOT better than I remembered. PS. Clara is beautiful here.

Loved how it was shot! Some great lines from the doctor too. So funny when they mentioned the film Alien. Looking forward to seeing the guys react to S. 9.

James Waters

Lads, I have to tell you, as someone who's seen almost every episode of doctor who ever made, series 9 includes one of the best episodes of doctor who ever made, and what is in my opinion the single worst episode of doctor who ever made. I hope you enjoy the series to come more than I do. I am very curious to see your reactions

Ryan

Heaven Sent approaches. Time to get hyped.

EDITRON

Honestly, I predict they will love the series finale. And I hate that XD

BW this reaction... Clara appears: high fives "old" Clara scene: tears Jk it was a dream, more 12/Clara: happiness! This is the content I signed up for, thank you.

Doby Greg

Another great ending to Clara. I don't hate her but I can't help but feel there was to many fake endings and it gets eye rolling on a rewatch.

Opti_Frog

Not only a superb x-mas special, but one of the best episodes ever. Honestly, the line "...so all of space and all of time... is sitting out there... in a big blue box. Please, don't even argue!" almost makes me happy cry.

I didn't like Clara at all with the Eleventh Doctor however her friendship with the Twelfth Doctor is so powerful it elevates both of them right thru the damn roof honestly

JojoInSpace

I really like this episode, and I've started to love it more and more on rewatch. It's just the right amount of scary and warm and nice. It's definitely a comfort watch episode for me. Also, I love the Doctor and Clara's interactions in it. The ending always has me get teary-eyed, as well as Capaldi riding the sleigh actually. As Eric said, it's so rare to see him that happy. I absolutely love that. Oh, and I love the parallels that Aaron mentioned between this and Time of the Doctor, with the cracker. The middle I am a bit back and forth on, and I don't love anyone in the supporting cast (except Santa and the elves) but it's definitely up there amongst my favourite Christmas specials. I love how happy they are to have Clara back. Now, it's time for s9... Oh how I've waited for this. Cue THAT NOISE.

I'm still in the middle of watching the reaction and you might mention this later, but as you have pointed out that the actor who plays Strax is in here, you should also point out that the guy who plays Professor Albert in the polar station is Michael Troughton, the son of 2nd Doctor actor Patrick Troughton. *edit* Ok, so you do mention it, and it's pronounced TR-OUT-ON.

Really surprised how much I liked this episode on the rewatch! Not one that I’ve watched since the original airing and it can’t have left much of an impression to me, but rewatch was really good!

And now, the best season begins.

Dark Aeolus

Eric, Calvin, and Aaron haven't seen Into The Badlands? Better fix that! NEXT POLL!!

Robert Trainer

The next two episodes are amongst my favourites of Nuwho.

Kiyan Qwindu

Can't wait for my fav Two parters coming up next as well as my fav two seasons (9, 10), but before then are they going to react to the minisodes that were released before the season starts or not. It's okay if they don't, I just think Eric and the others would enjoy some of 12s actions in them.

i dont know what im looking forward to them reacting to most from S9.. so many to choose from... E1 opening reveal and "axe fight"..E3 "cards".. E8 speech.. the 3 part finale.. but Eric's reaction to the E4 opening is probably top from the way he's loving 12

And so it begins...the gradual collapse of Doctor Who's writing.

Nick Earl

Followed by the even better Hell Bent (not sorry, it's great).

Anonymous

It's not. I completely agree. One fake out ending is fine, but doing it repeatedly gets really old.

Nick Earl

I think every Doctor ultimately becomes synonymous with one companion. Matt Smith had been with Amy/Rory for nigh on 3 seasons, and Clara was wedded to the Impossible Girl arc - which I liked a lot but turned her into a bit of a plopt point than a person. Her circumstance (and I admit - looks) made her more interesting than the writing of her. She didn't get a chance to shine the Eleventh until Time of the Doctor tbh. Likewise, I think Bill Potts was compromised a little by Capaldi's relationship with Clara, and Martha with Tennant. It's hard to follow such significant arcs and long term characters in the show.

Nick Earl

Pfft....Season 9 is probably the best Moffat season (although Season 5 runs it damn close). And I would take it over any of the first three seasons of New Who which have dated terribly.

I can't wait for season 9, it was what solidifies Peter Capaldi as my favorite doctor, god I love it!

Jason

This was originally Clara's exit episode and was written as such. Moffat pulled Jenna aside during promotion of S8 on "The World Tour" & convinced her she wasn't ready to leave just yet. Moffat fully intended to bring back the character of Shona (Sian Massey/The Waith) as the next companion in S9 but once Jenna changed her mind it never happened.
