I love Sayako's little smile when she realises who Zero is. I know a lot of her stuff gets covered in extra material outside of the main show, but I love her and Lelouch's relationship. Also yeah, this episode is where I really went "huh, this is pretty V for Vendetta" when I watched it. Probably one of my favourite plans of Lelouch's. It's pretty great, and I couldn't wait for you to get to it - reaction did not disappoint haha! Love to hear Lelouch and Suzaku monologue about each other. Some great stuff, and the whole thing about how Zero is an ideal, and what it means to be Japanese. Love all of that. And the two candles for Euphy bumbing together at the end gets to me every time. Onwards on the iceberg we go!

The girl that want to marry Zero (Kaguya) isn't Chinese, she's Japanese. In fact she is Suzaku's cousin. She was in the Kyoto group and was kind of considered as Japanese nobility. Remember Suzaku's father was the last prime minister of Japan.

When I was first watching the show a decade ago, this episode cemented my opinion that the second season was not as good as the first... Having seen it all several times now, I can definitely say that while the execution isn't as consistent as the first, the second season sure has some higher highs and really goes places. Some of the ridiculousness just didn't jive with me the first time around.
