Walt is one of the best characters of the last 10 years. He changes and evolves so much. Its an incredible show

The way I see it, the important thing for Walt wasn't whether or not to do the treatment. The important thing was letting everyone know that it was his choice to make. He just needed to make that clear to his family.

Steve Rivera

He gave up his choice. In the end, he couldn't be selfish about it. He saw the books by the bedside. He KNEW he couldn't pass the chance to survive. But he is taking a different choice upon himself. He is making the choice to pay it for himself. He is not letting anybody else pay for it. And this has become that decision that feels his own.

Steve Rivera

I put it on a different comment, but I'm pretty sure he was yet again forced into this decision. He saw the books by the bedside and knew he couldn't be selfish about this decision. He was glad he was making his son happy in the waiting room, but you see the smile break. He is doing this solely for them. So he forfeited that choice, but gave himself another one. To pay for the treatment himself. This has become his life defining decision. And spoilers for the Blind Wave crew, this definitely makes sense for the rest of the series. His new life stems from that defining moment. He has chosen and he will not be stopped.
