Episode 7 prequel: https://youtu.be/_sZu7sHuOSM I hope this reaches you in time, given you've already recorded the episode 6 reaction. I hope you haven't gotten to 7 yet.

Nicholas & Heather

Just waiting for the Rory fakeout death....

Nick Earl

This episode isn't perfect but it's very react-worthy. Same goes for the next three episodes which have a lot of hype and big moments but are a bit flawed.

Martin Wiggan

I liked this reaction which is strange because I hate most of this two parter, and I usually skip these episodes.

John FD Lobrano

Eric dreading the two-parter noise never gets old. XD

Great reaction and a even BETTER conversation about clones! Really really enjoyed that guys! WOWZA! BTW...stop picking on Shane or else I will take my sonic screwdriver and disassemble your kitchen cabinets!

I don't think it's react-worthy. There were also prequels to Episodes 1 and 3 but they didn't react to them. They're basically like teasers, they don't explain or add much and they are not self-sustained stories. I'd rather have them react to 'Night and (NOT of) the Doctor' after Series 6 is done and 'Pond Life' before Series 7 and so on.

Bryan Matola

After next week’s episode, You’ll have officially missed the window for reacting to the five Night and the Doctor shorts, which, unlike Space and Time, actually have some good lore in them.

If we have no soul then there is no device to give us free will in a deterministic Universe. And since we know our Universe had a beginning and is governed by the laws of physics then the Universe must be deterministic unless there is supernatural force (literally a force outside of nature) acting upon it. therefore there is no mechanism in which we can make choices since all our thoughts are merely processes dictated by the laws of physics, cause and effect put into motion at the beginning of time. In this sense the atheistic view is a surrender of free will while the theistic/spiritual view is actually an embracing of free will. Something to think about before getting into the nature of consciousness proper.

The concept of flesh clones is...quite intriguing, to say the least. As if...it can be used for... something.

when it comes to how Rory treats the gangers you have to remember this Rory remembers being a living plastic copy of himself so he's basically been in the gangers situation

Doby Greg

Good reaction and discussion. It is that movie with Arnold. I like how at this point Eric is just waiting for the next Rory death. Rory being that proactive was surprising. I appreciate that this time we didn't spent the whole discussion trying to prove someone wrong and got a bit more of the how you would solve it. Looking forward to part 2.

I am so on Shane's side! Its simple, what gives a copy the right to steal somesones life.

Lesbian Squid

Ah, but it is the only life they know, to them it is their life, its all about the perspective of the people involved, your right that it should be the original that goes back to the family but should the clone be taught another way of life or suffer forever beeing torented by the life they cannot live but is being playeed out like a play infront of their eyes?

They're DVD extras, so by definition the official window for watching them is after the series is over. The only one with a clear place in continuity is the last one, which is a (not very necessary) prequel to S06E12, although arguable still works best after it (and certainly not a long way before) as it basically spoils the whole pre-credits setup and makes the episode less react-worthy (hence why it ended up on a DVD, to be watched after the series, I'd guess). So I'd say watch them after S6 or not all and don't try to force some placement on them by sticking them somewhere in the middle. The guys can no doubt cope with a few extra scenes without a definite place in the series. Edit: and I just realised that if there's any kind of placement viewing window for the first four shorts, it's already shut. Those scenes can't be sensibly placed anywhere after the beginning of this episode and before the end of episode 8. So yes, watch them after series 6 and decide for yourselves where they fit.

Enjoyed this episode a lot more watching it with you guys. I'm also happy to see that I was not the only one hoping that the clone would be the 10th or 9th Doctor. Looking back now, a team-up like that wouldn't be in a small adventure like this.

If he did know that he didn't know, and didn't know that he did know, but knew that he didn't, and didn't that he did, but he knew it all along and didn't know it it, would it make a sound if there was nobody there to hear it?

De Lupe

Rory was a star in this episode. He knows what it's like to be a real consciousness attached to a fake body.

I'm with Shane on this one. No matter how perfectly they remember the original's life, a clone is still a clone. Regardless of what they think they experienced, only one person truly experienced it. It's like hallucinating or having a really vivid dream; no matter how much you think it happened, how real it felt or looked to you, in reality you didn't experience it. So Calvin's argument of them having the same origin is wrong, because one was (let's assume) born through natural birth, the other born from a vat and has the memories of the person who was born naturally. I'd also say that they have two different souls, since for me a soul is a unique supernatural thing and cannot be duplicated, least of all artificially, but that's more debatable. For me the definite way to prove it would be to monitor the events that led to the clone being "born" then watch both their movements to see where they end up and decide (e.g. the Shane on the right was the one that came out of the vat so he's the clone).

Cannot wait for the guys reaction for the next episode. They are in for a shock.

Simply.Beyond

They haven’t gotten to those episodes yet...

Opti_Frog

I really like this story, it's very old skool who, but there's not really enough story for two parts.

Opti_Frog

Of course youre leaving out the omniscient god figure (simply calling it "supernatural force"), because if god already knows what you're going to do, then how are you making the choice to do it? The most common answer is that humans have been granted a special exemption from god's omniscience, which god can do because he is omnipotent and so did this in between creating stones he can't lift and creating rains of burning ice because he does not have to follow logic.

RevanTheRebel

I didn't care much for this two-parter the first time through, mainly because it definitely has a weird existential-horror atmosphere and it sometimes didn't even feel like Doctor Who to me. But on rewatches of the series I actually enjoy this one. I'm really hyped for the upcoming episodes!

They find out about amy next episode can’t wait
