It’s a shame that there’s no good Christmas specials between seasons 5-9

Juliette

I forgot all about this ep! Assumed we'd be going onto the next series. This is a good surprise though cause it's my favourite Christmas special.

RyanKlip

I’m actually low key disappointed cause I was looking forward to 6x1 and completely forgot Christmas specials were a thing lmao. I’m sure it’s still a great reaction

TbcAlex

Such a great Christmas special

Teek

Rory remembers being plastic, he specifically has a line about it after the Doctor reappears at the wedding in the finale. "I was plastic(?)..." How that all works is never really addressed.

Ah, the most disappointing Christmas special, I’m so sorry guys

Scribbles

"Most well-written arc". *siiiighs* Sure, if you think beating the audience in the face with that friggin' crack is writing well. I still say it was the Bad Wolf arc that was the most well-written, because it was so damned subtle and full of things you noticed but thought nothing about until they all started adding up. Compared to that, Series 5's arc was more like "CRACK CRACK LOOK AT THE CRACK! SEE? A CRACK! IT'S ALL GOT TO DO WITH THE CRACK! CRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!"

Scribbles

I dunno, I'd personally vote "The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe". Though I'd call that more infuriating than disappointing. This one is kind of inoffensive and nice.

Tomi A

Huh? I think this is one of the most popular Christmas special among fans, if not THE most popular.

Doug C

Glad you liked it, but what do you mean not integral to plot??? I dare you to revisit this statement after the mid season finale... That was quite the consequential wedding night!

Bryan Matola

Just a brief reminder of the existence of the “Night” shorts, as well as “Space” and “Time” which should all be watched after the first episode of season 6

Anonymous

2 minutes in and you're already wrong. Sigh. Rory CAN remember waiting 2000 years... mostly. lol

Fizzy

I knew they would like season 5’s writing better. For some reason Americans tend to like Steven Moffat’s run better than RTDs. I agree that the Bad Wolf stuff was more subtle, but season 5 tied back elements from the first episode and was really unique with the way it ties up its plot.

RyanKlip

Well clearly they don’t know it is yet if they haven’t watched season 6 lol

JojoInSpace

I've always loved this Christmas episode, and it's to this day among my absolute favourites (both Christmas episodes and episodes in general). It's also a surprisingly good one-off introduction to new Who-viewers, I've noticed. Glad you guys enjoyed it, even if it made me start crying about Christmas episodes in September. Well, at least I wasn't alone tearing up! Also, Michael Gambon is a great actor, so that definitely adds to the episode. And while I don't think Matt Smith looked bad at all before... I kind of have to agree with Eric that he looks BETTER now. He's certainly "grown" in a way, and I do prefer his hair here to his s5 hair. Looking forward to rewatching s6 and seeing the crew's reaction to it. It's going to be fun.

Teek

Happy the world "reapers" never came up in their post-watch discussion. They never made much sense and the story works much better if you're allowed to just roll with it.

Patrick McMahon

This is one of my all time favorite episodes. I love that the there was a whole Doctor/Companion relationship that onfollded so quickly in one episode. I just love it. Amy and Rory's rollplaying on thier honeymoon is hilarious also!

Patrick McMahon

Haha, I agree about Matt's look. For the first few episodes he looked a bit Frankensteinish to me. But his look improves and I got used to him and now I think he's super cute.

Personally my favorite Christmas episode, Well acted, well written, well shot, and like Eric said it's going to be hard to top this one. not one of the upcoming ones has given me the same emotions that this episode gave, apart from Twice upon a Time which I also loved.

Alric Amon

Yeah I agree, This along with Twice Upon a Time, are my favorite christmas specials.

Liam Skoda

My favourite moment is when he shows the little kid how the adult turned out, great episode.

No best written finale was season 4 bringing the characters together to fight Davros.

MelGoethals

For some reason I expected at least one of them to comment on Arthur to be in the opening credits now. It always seemed like a big deal to me.

Felleng Nthane

Someone get Calvin a jacket poor boy is freezing

Where is the Google Drive full length? Nothing streams well on the blindwave website :(

Gezno

First time ever seeing this (Completely missed it) and I have to say, one of the best Matt Smith episode.

Gezno

Honestly when I saw a few clips of Matt Smith as the Doctor, before actually watching the show, I thought this man was some kind of evil incarnation of the Doctor, he always looked so creepy to me.

Doby Greg

I was really not into the episode until he started to have some fun with Abigail and the kid. That's when the story shows his heart rather than trying to be clever or wacky. Also the reaction was pretty great. It's always interesting when they/you are that touched by an episode.

Greg Schuster

Its a sweet self-contained story, I never understood why this one was so poorly received that Michael Gambon felt the need to apologize for it... Sure it isn't the greatest story ever told, but it was fun, from a show about a 900 year old alien what else do expect but fun?

Anonymous

wait he apologized for it? Unfair i thought it was a wonderful story.

Alan Carroll

"Y'know, in 900 years of time and space, I've never met anyone who wasn't important before" Probably one of my favourite quotes of the whole show.

Shaun Kemmer

Please watch the 6x01 prequel right before episode 6x01. Just youtube search 'doctor who 6x01 prequel'

Was hoping for a reaction to Space and Time minisodes.

coladict

I don't know when you film and edit these, so early warning: get yourself tissues for episode 4, because you will only cry if you're human.

Doby Greg

Better to never hype them for an episode and let them discover.

Great episode, definitely one of the better Christmas specials. I really hope the blind wave crew react to the Time and Space mini episodes before they start Series 6 as these two mini episodes aired before "The impossible astronaut" which is S06-E01. Aired as part of the line up on Red nose day 2011 charity fund-raiser. Two great funny little episodes, i know a few of you have been talking about them so hopefully the blind wave crew will react to them next .

Rhianna BRROWN

I like how he thinks matt look better ands the Shut UP parts they like and I bet you’ll matt will be there faiv doctor by the end of season 6 or his last Amy and Rory eps or his last I’ll bet you they’ll cry more when matt leaves

Glen McCulla

tfw you're a recovered burn victim.

Alric Amon

I doubt he'll be Eric's favourite. Shane has the best chance as he has stated how much he has enjoyed Matt Smith. Calvin will have the same opinion as Eric ( He generally does). But I'm not sure with Shane because although he likes 11, Eric and Aaron will go on about Tennant and Shane would most likely be inclined to agree with their opinion.

I cant wait for season 6! I cant wait another week. I love me Some River!
