I had a feeling they'd have fun with this one. :D I like to call this episode "Lelouch Hannah Montana-ing his way through revolution". I personally find it hilarious. It's UTTERLY ridiculous, and it has such a different tone. It's, as Rick said, very Ouran. But this is one of those times where I don't mind the high school shenanigans. It just makes me laugh, every time, and even more so with reactors watching. Lelouch 0, cat 1. Also it has the joke I love that Lelouch is just generally kind of physically unfit. He's a tactician, not a sportsman. And like Eric said, just imagining this happening to Batman or someone else... It wouldn't work in many other places. Besides, as the guys bring up - it does move the characters forward. We get to see how the prejudices influences the school, and how Suzaku gets more accepted, as well as some more insight into the friendship between Lelouch and Suzaku. So I really do enjoy this episode, even though I know a lot of people find it a waste of time. Fan-service aside, but that's just my constant criticism of CG, it gives me a good laugh as well as developing the characters and their relationships - which is perfectly fine by "filler" standards for me. Glad the crew got some laughs from it, which I think is the best outcome this ridiculous episode could have. Looking forward to next week.

I wonder if Kallen is named Kallen because the original Japanese creators mixed R with L. I saw some old translations calling her Karen years ago.

Its great, one of tye few abimes that xhallanges an audience on the ideas of which ideology is superior- capitalism, communism or individualism :p

Wait till they get to the episode with "that" scene their will reaction will be interesting to say the least lol

Thanatos

I thought this episode was fine. I would just say cherish these slower moments and these "peaceful" times because its ramps up later on in the series.

The Japanese doesn't really distinguish between R, and L, so both Kallen, and Karren are equally correct

Swordhunter

Was worried you guys wouldn't enjoy that one. Getting Suzaku accepted by the students was a break but it needed the space to happen.

Behold what is probably the weirdest episode in Code Geass where we talk about racism and introduce the main antagonist of the show with an allegory to the nazis, complete with an allegory salute just in case you didn't get what they were referencing. We also see social Darwinism, world building and a funeral. How do we set the tone for this episode? LET'S HAVE THEM CHASE A CAT!! What, but how would that fit in the plot? Let's make him grab the mask, then we chase him in this silly comedic highschool moment!! But what about the racial themes and conflicts? The cat-catching solves racism. I still like it though, its silly but in a good way and I felt the scenes with the Emperor to be really good. As to whether most people enjoy this episode, well to your surprise (or lack thereof) they really, really don't. This episode is considered infamous by many, many fans who consider it to be at odds with the themes and seriousness of the show. Most people view Code Geass as a complex and serious political drama, with some silly elements which they either enjoy or tolerate. This is a silly episode with some serious elements sprinkled in-between, so the exact opposite of what most fans like. Couple that with a SINGLE knightmare/mech scene in the whole episode and you have yourself an episode that most fans just wish they could skip. I'm almost 100% sure that it actually affected the show too. You see, CG holds a unique distinction with most anime since it didn't have any source material and was built as an anime first, with the manga coming after the series success. It was a very risky endeavor for everyone involved and many thought it would fail. It even had to take a sponsorship from Pizza Hut to have enough money to fund the show (Leading to the infamous PIzza Hut advertising in many episodes). This episode did not help matters, since the audience didn't like it even back then, and in fact the high school stuff is VERY limited for the rest of the series probably because of the response this one got. The 'cat chase' has become so infamous to the Gess's staff that the more recent 'recap films' cut the thing out almost entirely. So, no, it's not well liked.

Mr. Big Stuff

Ironic that they say CiCi's Pizza... When there's another famous pizza joint that gets advertised throughout the show lol

Lord_EAA

Sadly, it looks as if they are looking at an edited version, possibly blu ray, which cut out the sponsorship . So not only will they not see it, they might never find out about it at all :(

Lord_EAA

Its more, communism, democracy and Social Darwinism with fascism, but yeah it's something really cool about the show.

Cody Kematch

I've never SEEN someone eat so much forks!

Lord_EAA

If were talking about the dark moments ;), if were not then were talking about 'that' scene...the one most people want to ignore was in the show at all, then I'm actually wondering if anyone knows why that was even there. You know, the Nina scene.......

A viceroy is someone who runs a country, colony, city, province, or sub-national state, in the name of and as the representative of the monarch of the territory.

Calvin, Nunnally isn't blind in the same sense Daredevil is. When their mother died Nunally was physically crippled but she was also psychologically scarred. In the brief shot of it we have, you can see Nunally in her mothers arms with her eyes wide open. She physically can't open her eyes anymore because of psychological trauma.

Olenti

I wish they did 2 per week.

tsujoi

I'm a little disappointed that they aren't eating pizza hut during the reactions, haha.

Lord_EAA

They barely know about the meme, they might never if this is an edited version without the pizza hut advertising.

Ism Zam

Everyone says that about all the shows. except RR-GoT
