Ochaco’s parents coming to visit, I cannot stop twinkling, and The “he’s dead...he’s alive!!!” Are my favorite gags in the entire series so far.

Jeff

Deku means wooden figure or puppet. It sounds similar to another word that means "to be able to do". This is a bit dated and possibly location restricted but back in like the 80's or so (not really sure) when the word "Bad" which has an obviously negative meaning started to be used to describe things that were cool. Something similar to that.

Juniper

Well eraser head is the —> Erasure Hero: Eraser Head . That’s how deku first introduced him. So I assume that’s like the official name but everyone just calls him eraser head

To clarify there are no registered heroes without quirks thats why all might at the start of the series said you need a quirk to be a hero because its just to dangerous to go against villians without a power, but because of that we have a spinoff series my hero vigilante

KING EXPLOSION MURDER!!!

Jcw490

I’m glad Rick changed his tune on Froppy so much from when he initially saw her lmao 🐸

Maybe I’m looking too much into this, but I’ve always found it ironic when guys like the Blind Wave Crew say that anime is a little too weird at times and that takes them out of the show when they’re into shows like Flash and Arrow and movies like Star Wars, which gets pretty weird in they’re own right.

Lord I want them to see season 3 right now...

Tammi M

LORD EXPLOSION MURDER! Best name ever Lol. I can hardly wait, I'm so excited! Love the reaction guys ugh you don't know the awesomeness soon to add to this fantastic show!

Tammi M

Yeah, same with some family members of mine lol. 'Anime does weird stuff, sometimes too weird or pervy' yet there's stuff like the whole Sharknado fiasco, Sci-Fi flicks and bigger franchises as you mentioned. Anime is just another form of entertainment. Still, I don't think BW meant anything by it, plus we got Rick on our side to represent the awesomeness of anime. So its all good.

you guys are kinda right. the first and most common meaning for Deku is "to be capable of something" however another meaning for it which is how Bakugou uses it is "one who can't achieve/do anything" so really it has both meaning. as an insult its saying he can't do anything but as a hero name it says he CAN do anything

Phoebe

Deku" can mean "the one who can't achieve/do anything"

Carson elliott

Tsukuyomi is the Japanese god of the moon, which is why tokoyami used it for his hero name, considering he's strongest at night.

Derek H

Ketchup on scrambled eggs is heresy

Man am I the only one who liked Deku's hood? lol

The whole Deku name thing is one thing lost in translation. It sounds like two words in Japanese. One meaning worthless pretty much. The other meaning "You can do it!" The latter of which was brought up to him by Uraraka during the Hero v Villain practice in season 1 when they were fighting Bakugo.

Anonymous

I like to think the English equivalent of Deku would be Zero

Edwin Gonzalez

The whole hero names isn't confusing, it's similar to spider-man's name. He is known as "Your Friendly neighborhood hero - Spider Man".

I'm calling it now... Blind Wave gives us a special 2 episode release next week!! Ain't no way they not gonna freak the fuck out at the end of the next episode. My bet is it's Eric that says screw it and caves!!

This arc with Iida will always be one of my personal favorites, simply because of the coincidental timing that it aired. In 2016, I got a phone call at work that my older brother, someone that I've always looked up to and wanted to be like the most, was struck in a hit-and-run while he was walking home. He was comatose, and the asshole kid that hit him had fled the town with his mother by the time the police arrived to investigate. When he woke up 3 days later, he had lost the ability to walk and talk, the new job he'd started, and his chance at the career he'd dreamed of. In a single instant, everything had come to an end. He was the toughest, hardest-working sonovabitch I'd ever known. And it was the first time I'd ever seen him cry. The raw portrayal of Iida's emotional range in these episodes is incredible, in both the art execution and the voice-acting: that inexplicable feeling of getting a call like that on a totally normal day, like the bottom's fallen out of your stomach and you can't breathe; the anxiety of having no information and being forced to wait while your imagination increasingly presumes the worst; the helplessness of seeing the strongest person you've ever known mangled and broken beyond repair in more ways than one; questioning reality; and of course, the festering, unbridled *rage* at both the assailant, the media, people involved/not involved, whatever god you believe in, AND yourself. There's even a moment where you pause and ask yourself if you should continue your path in life, not because it's what you want, but because you don't want to let that other person down. And somehow, ALL of that was captured in this arc. If you told me that this supposedly simple anime would ever become that complex back in Season One, I might've laughed. I looked on these episodes with new eyes and was completely blown away, because I don't think I've ever related to anything so closely before. Even his 'quest' to find the assailant, driven completely by emotions that are no longer in your control, to the point of potentially harming yourself and others who care about you, was relatable. And it's no accident that this is so; MHA at it's core is a series of clever, well-crafted metaphors based on Horikoshi's life experiences...just told with superheroes, fun tropes, and affectionate homages. Forget the fights. Forget the tragic backstories, the powers, and hell, even the main plot: THIS is where I believe the heart of his storytelling lies, in the interpersonal, character-developing moments, by grounding them to reality and watching them overcome huge, but still relatable, odds. Well done, MHA.
