I wish episode 60 didn't end like it did and ended at the same point as the manga, where after the explosion and the dust settles you see all the lifeless bodies and you see Father with his new body, confirming that he had succeeded and absorbed *50 million souls*. It gives you time to absorb the reality of what just happened, and the fact that we see much of the main cast still survive after that point gives some credence to the idea that maybe everyone else is really going to stay dead. You had maybe the dozen or so main/supporting characters on or above the center of the circle(Ed, Al, Hohenheim, Mustang, Izumi, Greedling, May, Hawkeye, Scar, Jerso, Zampano, and Darius) still around, But everyone else, including the Rockbells and the Armstrongs and 50 million others, would effectively be dead. Kill off *everyone* with four episodes left, and they stay dead? Nah. But half the supporting cast, including millions of others? That was at least worryingly plausible.

Think of it this way: Father made a layer of energy(out of souls) that prevented the alchemists of Amestris from being able to access ALL of the tectonic energy which powers their alchemy. Scar's brother discovered this through his research along with the giant transmutation circle that Father was creating and created a reverse transmutation circle using a combination of alchemy and alkahestry to remove that "power damper". Now for the first time in countless years or ever, the alchemists of Amestris can use the full power of the tectonic energy to power their alchemy.

Also in case the Blind Wave crew doesn't remember or I am just misinterpreting your words... Mustang is able to use alchemy to in a sense "control" fire. He is able to create fire by snapping his fingers because his white gloves are coated in gunpowder and the friction creates a spark when snapped and he is able to make that spark into a flame which he can then control how big and how powerful it is not to mention the direction of it, and has pin point accuracy to boot(burning specific body parts like envy's eye's or tongue). When he fought Lust he used a lighter in place of his gloves and used either the spark the lighter creates or the flame itself for his alchemy.

King Bradley will forever be the most badass character in this show. I haven’t seen any other anime character grab a sword with their teeth while losing their own arms.

I'm not gonna lie... I was always really confused with what happened to Pride. This is like me fifth time watching this show, and I still don't really get it.

This is the episode that solidified Bradley and Kimbley as two of my favorite characters! I could not ask for a better way to end their stories!

So Ed took him out of his homunculus shell, and saved him, instead of killing him. That's why Kimblee said Pride didn't understand who Ed really was.

I've watched this series about 10 times fully through and I've just recently understood what happened with Pride. During the Brigs Saga when Ed gets impaled, he saves himself by transmuting himself into Philosopher's Stone. He's using a similar technique here, but isn't expending his own energy. Basically he turns into energy, goes inside the battery (Pride), and transmutes all the energy besides the core (Baby Form). Thus everything else that is Pride (Homunuli and Souls) is used up and all that's left is Selim Bradley.

Bradley goes down as the biggest badass of the entire series. Not even because of the teeth thing, but because the only reason he went down was because of Divine Intervention.

Not only did the reverse transmutation circle allow them to use alchemy again, it allows them to use it to a greater extent than ever before. The stones father had throughout the land were a sort of power inhibitor and it's always been there. In a sense, everyone can use alchemy to its full extent for the first time in history now.
