It's not who wins the race, but who loses. The loser has to serve everyone at the wedding feast. At least, that's what the historical wedding race's rules were. Edit: Er, woops. I'd forgotten that they actually showed that.

that is false, Ivar was more famous and most ruthless, he was king of dublun, conquerod scotland and ireland and york in england and he never lost a battle, alfred and bjorn is nothing comapred to ivar

Half of the characters in this show weren't real and 99% of these events didn't actually happen. Historical accuracy isn't going to totally dictate where the showrunners take the story, so to call someone's theory about what might happen next in this show "false" is just fucking silly.

That is nonsense. Ivarr was one of three brothers leading the great heathen army. Between them they defeated East Anglia and Northumbria and took York before being stalemate by Marcia and Wessex. Ivarr then disappeared, all the Victories of the GHA after that had nothing to do with him. Some scholars believe he is the same person as Imarr who was active in Ireland. If he was then He still didn't conquer Ireland, he set himself up as king in Dublin for a few years. He didn't conquer Scotland he had one long but successful siege of a castle in Strathclyde. Then he died of disease. Why exaggerate his achievements? Saying things like "he never lost a battle" is absurd. Even If he was Ivarr and did rule Dublin, Argyll and the Scottish islands most of those lands were already colonised by vikings and Ivarr inherited his father's success. If Ivarr and Imarr are the same then Ivarr was living in Ireland with his father for 20 years before the invasion of England happened and both his father and brother were involved in the wars in Ireland and Scotland so he probably wasn't even the leader. If he was the leader then he certainly lost a battle or two in 12 years of stalemated fighting in Ireland.

I have read that in History a person known as The Boneless did invade and Won and Alfred drove them from Wessex for all time in a defeat so badly no one invaded until of course the Saxsons. Sorry for my spelling

Ivar is pretty much the most famous and ruthless Viking in history he is actually the oldest son and he actually led The Great Heathen Army and defeated Alle Bjorn tried but failed against him it made sence that they gave it to Bjorn as we've had Bjorn on the show for longer i think they made Ivar the youngest because they didn't wan't him on the show as they were telling Ragnars story as Ivar would of probably overshadowed him as Ivar is more famous so they waited untill the end of Ragnars journey untill they introduced him into the show

and Ragnar really didn't wan't his sons to be more famous than him he even made sure someone else got power so that Bjorn and the sons couldn't and also we are in the 8th centry in the show but we have characters from the 9th or 10th centry on the show also Bjorn is Aslaug's son this show changes alot from history most the characters on the show never actually met
