The brown haired scientist lady who was operating the machine was my history and geography cover teacher when I was year 7. I remember her showing us and we were all like WHAT 😂

PLEASE remember that Martha always wanted to return 'home' because she still had a life to return to. Rose, was sort of 'aimless' and not really motivated to figure things out.... Martha on the other hand, was an intern as a medical doctor herself, meaning that she was generally highly motivated and was more or less 'grounded' in having some kind of 'future' for herself. The 'time' with the Doctor was only supposed to be a 'short term' thing in general, so they (Martha and Doctor) had already agreed to spend only a 'short time' together... what happens during that 'short time' however can be rather exciting and dangerous.

Apparently I was so unimpressed with this episode at the time so I completely forgot it even existed (was expecting ‘42’, the next one). Anyway, glad you like Martha, she is amazing (despite not so brilliant episodes in the middle of the series). And you’d stumble across Saxon’s name rewatching the earlier episodes but I consider them more like Easter eggs and not actual mentions, so you’re good to go :)

Mark Gatiss who played Lazarus has indeed written for Doctor Who (and acted and written in Sherlock, and acted in Game of Thrones...) :D You're right Eric!

And yes, the name Saxon has been mentioned several times, but very very briefly, and it's something that you usually only notice on a rewatch.

The name of Harold Saxon has been mentioned or seen in some previous episodes this season, kind of comparable to this season's version of the Bad Wolf name drops.

The trees in the second episode were not human-tree hybrids. They were trees that evolved animal characteristics, and eventually sentience.

Mark Gatiss has written a few episodes of doctor who, the ones we've seen so far (reaction-wise) have been the Charles Dickens episode in the first series, and the second series episode where the TV lady ate peoples faces

Eric has said in some mailbag episodes that he hasn't watched it. I think Calvin has watched it. Not sure about others. I believe they said that it would be nice to watch that series at some point. As a big Stargate fan I sure hope so. But unfortunately it didn't get enough votes in the last poll, and it's a quite long series, so I don't know if they ever watch it.

In the Runaway Bride you can also overhear one of the tank drivers receiving an order by command of Harold Saxon to shoot down the Star ship that the Racnoss is flying in.
