For real that thumbnail hahaha . But guys ! Serious hype for this episode, love your reactions, but quick question, whose side are you on?

Vasiliu Vlad

Dude Ryuk is not a demon.. Is a God of Death..

Theo Woronkoff

Welp... with that thumbnail my nightmares have a real face to relate now

Weiss Schnee

am i the only one not able to download the ep. neither 1 or 2

Shane King

i rooted for Light most of the way myself

I was so hype for this reaction that I had to become a patron haha

Light is killing because he was bored remember? He doesn’t care at all about justice or morals, that’s just an excuse, something to justify the “sacrifice” he thinks he is making. All his life he was perfect, everyone told him and thinks that, so now he thinks (subconsciously?) that he is able to do everything. I don’t remember who right now but a philosopher said that if you have no struggles life is not worth living for, and that seems the case with Light. He felt like he had no challenge ever, he was immensely bored, and now he has a purpose, a challenge, something that finally stimulates him. This is that kind of people that are always looking for a discussion, just so that they can win and feed their ego, and they’re always sour losers

I'm sorry, but that thumbnail is fucking terrifying!

GOD OF DEATH not demon

So after watching the first episode, having never seen the show before, I binge watched the show in Netflix and absolutely loved it! I’m glad they introduced me to this show! But with that and with no spoilers I can’t wait till they meet Misa! I loved her at the beginning on the show.

Anonymous

I also loved the first majority of the show but after a huge change happened I didn’t like it as much. Anyone who has seen the show knows what point I’m talking about without spoiling it. Up till that point is was hilarious and then it was still funny but not so much

After the big change happens most people say there is a dip in quality. For some it is small and they still like it for others its terrible and couldnt even finish it. Gonna be interesting what BW thinks.

im so happy right now thank you guys

Eric's reaction to the trolley problem is the best I've ever seen. Speaking of perpetuating myths... shinigami are not Japanese gods of death. Originally, the word "shinigami" meant a kind of ghost (the -gami ending can refer to any powerful spiritual entity) that possessed people and made them suicidal. After WWII, it began referring to the Western concept of the Grim Reaper instead. But there is no native Japanese equivalent to that concept--the closest thing is Izanami, but she's the ruler of the dead, not the bringer of death. So they could have just translated "shinigami" as something like Reaper--except that Bleach did exactly that, and was at peak popularity when Death Note came out. Death Note's shinigami are different enough from Bleach's that I can see why they didn't want American audiences getting them confused.

Eric: Nobody good has ever said "I am a god!" It says something about me that my first reaction was "Madoka begs to differ," and my second was, "Oh right, also Jesus."

Burooj Ahanger

Light's reaction was also very very petty and teenager-y.

lol they think Light has gone too far now....HA! They have no idea.

Sky Sirak

Fun Fact: that's Brian Drummond (Vegeta!) voicing Ryuk. :) Also, Alessandro Juliani as L.

Megan Linart

That's what is great about this show. L and Light have a really interesting dynamic throughout the show that makes their cat and mouse game super compelling to watch and experience. Love the discussion so far guys. Glad you enjoy it as much as me!

ArcaneAnomaly

Technically, neither of them ever claimed to be, either. :P Jesus was never referred to as such, and Madoka never referred to herself as one - Kyubey did.

Doby Greg

Light needs it to be public so people will fear doing bad and ending in Kira's list. It isn't simply about punishing the guilty but also making people stop committing awful acts due to Kira's existence.

I just took a dump

Fucking hell Eric looks creepy in the thumbnail. That's going to haunt me

tsujoi

I hope they do a movie review for the Netflix adaptation after they're done!

If you stare too long at the thumbnail, Eric gets another soul for his collection...

Koala Banana

Shane has a good point, there is literally no evidence to convict Light unless the police find the Death Note itself. So it will be hard to pin the murders on any person.

Megan Linart

Also so happy an episode will fall on Halloween it's the prefect time for it.

TAP

I want to see Ryuk twirling a revolver around now.

Nicholas & Heather

It reminds me that Rebels episode with Thrawn. "Warhead" where he uses the process of elimination to determine the possible location of the rebels.

Karen Kettle

I love this show so much. Watching your reaction is just making want to binge watch the entire series.

Whim

they're gonna flip when they get later into the show lmao..can't wait

DevilJynx

That thumbnail.... *shudders* Eric looks creepy
