Sometimes you make a dumb ironic joke and it suddenly it spirals into this idea you can't get out of your head and thus, you need to actualize it into existence.

The following is happening purely because Landon and I were joking and I randomly used the unfortunate phrase "CUCKTOBERFEST" (which is just a funny portmanteau that I hope doesn't belie my true venomous feelings about the alt right leanings that popularized it), but suddenly I was thinking about all the truly great movies that deal with the subjects of infidelity, along with the more goofy and trashy forms that deal with this subject matter... and decided to mess around with some programming. So if you down, let's watch some absolute bangers!

It starts this Friday, a little later that usual at 4pm pacific time.

As always, it will on https://www.twitch.tv/filmcrithulk

To the lineup!!!!!

400pm - Pre Show

408pm - Short Secret Screening

430pm - Blood Simple (1984) - What better way to start than with the Coen Brothers first movie, which is a great a way to start a career, too. I haven't watched this one in yeaaaars and so I'm so excited to revisit. Get ready for some pulpy, small town western noir incoming, y'all!

610pm - Body Double (1984) - De Palma is always so good at playing with elements of trash, but of all the beloved De Palma movies this is personally my least favorite of the bunch? Only because it turns into the trash SO HARD, but that's why it practically begs for a twitch chat to just be howling at this one alongside it.

800pm - In The Mood For Love (2000) - Okay, enough trash. Let's immediately class up the joint with Wong Kar-wai's masterpiece, which is quite simply one of the most beautiful, sumptuous, and satisfyingly languid(?) movies ever made.

940pm - Deep Water (2022) - This film is the entire reason for the stream. I was talking about how I've always wanted to program it because this film never got the attention it deserved and how it probably should have had a different, attention grabbing title - like who could ignore a Ben Affleck movie titled "Supercuck!" in this day and age. But then that spiraled into the joke at hand of what possible theme could it be programmed with. Anyway, Adrian Lyne is the great god of the erotic thriller and he came out of seeming retirement to make a film that we all thought was going to be a throwback. Instead, he delivered one of the funniest and weirdest films of the last few years, but hooo boy is it ABOUT stuff. I can't wait to watch with first timers.

1140pm - Secret Screening #1 - This is very funny movie, but I haven't seen it since it came out so I'm a little worried this is going to have some dated / insensitive things, so fair warning?

110am - Secret Screening #2 - We're going straight into the heart of exploitation territory with some really dated / insensitive / straight up bonkers things with this one, SO FAIR WARNING!!!!! Every CW imaginable!

This time I'll have to catch y'all directly when I wake up, since the stream starts at 1 am and I'm existential tired. But I'm in for Saturday morning and the secret screenings 💜💜

The first secret screening i shut off cause i instantly didn't like it and the vibes were bad, but the second was Russ Meyers' SUPERVIXENS! and it was absurd nc17 looney tunes with bad sexual politics.
