NOTE: SLIGHT LINE-UP DELAY BELOW - Turns out Blues Brothers only has the "extended cut" available and *insert rant about how the DVD boom had unfortunate consequence in demanding new product where it put all these "extended" versions out that are really just adding in purposefully deleted scenes and this is bad for film preservation in this essay I will...*

Okay, it's not a sing-a-long per say, but this is the month we're doing Musicals, baby! I'm so excited, especially for those of you haven't seen some of these ones. We're gonna start classic and then start getting weirder :)

It's all happening today (9/16) at 11:15am pacific time! That's a little earlier than normal just because musicals tend to be a bit more on the longer side, but it's the way to get the same number of movies in!

As always it will be happening over on twitch at https://www.twitch.tv/filmcrithulk

Onto the line-up!

1115am - Pre-roll hangout!

1130am - Singing In the Rain - The Gene Kelly classic that's just a delight (except that one moment in that one scene). I honestly haven't properly seen this on in awhile so I'm excited, too!

115 pm - The Muppets Take Manhattan - I like to imagine at some point I will have shown all the muppet movies in these streams? This is a good thing. And a great New York movie.

255 pm - Jesus Christ Superstar (1973) - I am so so excited to show this to people who've never seen this film before. It's the most hippy-laden, acid-soaked fever dream that's shot with the most gorgeous location-based cinematography. It's pretty much the reason I wanted to do this whole theme.

445pm - Blues Brothers - Yes, it's a musical. And yes it's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses... Hit it.

705pm  - All That Jazz - Bob Fosse's self-flagellating distillation on art and his own destructiveness is arguably the greatest musical of all time? I always pick one seminal classic to put in this slot and I just can't not do it.

915pm - Purple Rain - Like I'm not gonna show Prince's Purple Rain!!!! All hail Prince!!!! I want to soak up every bit of this 80's hair fest. Few movies ever get this dang cool.

1110pm - Phantom of the Paradise - This film is the other reason I wanted to do musicals this month. If you've never seen Brian De Palma's audacious 1974 rock musical comedy horror romance meditation that features some of Paul Williams's best work ever? Then holy crud are you in for a treat.

1245am - Secret Screening #1 (Hint: It's great)

220am - Secret Screening #2 (Hint: I've never actually seen it)

Fully understand! I try to program so I can watch as much as I humanly can (about 16 hours) during all day light hours and getting hours for the UK crowd too. Wish I could stream 24 hours!

Thanks to everyone who stuck with us through the tech issues! Due to said issues we had to cancel phantom of the paradise (which I'll show next month for halloween!) and showed only one secret film, which I hadn't seen, which was Xanadu!!!
