Twitch Stream Starting NOW - "Golden Retriever Energy" Movies (Patreon)

Hey remember the last month's Twitch stream where we were angry about America and the fourth of July so I inadvertently programmed a bunch of great movies that still had total gut-punch endings and we were all like oooooof?!?! I do too!

So 1) as an apology and 2) because we're entering the dog days of summer up here, I've decide on a selection of movies that have "Golden Retriever Energy," which doesn't mean they're all super gentle movies on the whole - more that they just have some sweet pup-like element that's at the center of their story (for example, it's too bad I've already show the Paddingtons).

Noon - Pre roll

1215pm - Marty (1955) - The Best Picture-winning feel good movie where you get to see how mean everyone was about people's looks in the 1950's, but the great Ernest Borgnine is so sweet and adorable and I just love his performance.

145pm - Big - The landmark 1988 Penny Marshall comedy that helped throw Tom Hanks into stardom. It's funny, joyous, weird, deeply behavioral, and ultimately, super-messed up if you think too hard about it. Thus, I can't wait for the first timers to see it.

330pm - Beauty Shop - I love the Barbershop Cinematic Universe and we all most pay homage to THE Queen Latifah. *sounds trumpets*

520pm -  A Goofy Movie - Fun fact: I've only seen random chunks of this one and don't think I've seen it all? Or at least never sat down and watched toe to tip. I am excited for y'all to watch me watch this one.

645pm - A Boy and His Samurai - If you liked when we showed Fish Story at midnight a few months ago, get ready for my favorite Nakamura movie. It's a criminally under-seen film, but google nothing. Just know this is THE film of the line-up. I will say nothing else.

840pm - Rocky - The landmark 1976 picture is the reason Stallone will just forever hold promise. It's one of those perfect movies that also feels a bit like a happy accident, one where all his best writing and acting instincts somehow came together to make something magical. While it's one of those films many have already seen, I'm so excited for the first timers.

1040pm - Point Break - Okay, here's ANOTHER one of the best films ever made. I am not joking. It's not just because it's the ur-text for Keanu Reeves and all that makes him special. Nor is it because it gives us peak Swayze mystic charisma. It's that it's the perfect thematic statement from Bigelow about masculinity, violence, and so much more. THE FBI IS GOING TO PAY US TO SURF.
