Content

A person has warned me that they are hacking my content (and that of many others) under many excuses:

"I hate the paywall"

I do not like it either, but it's an excellent way to turn your Patrons into special people. The paywall is not made to fuck the one who does not pay, it is done to reward the one who pays. It is a way of saying "thank you for your support, take this, just for you". It's about turning your Patrons into VIP, premium or whatever you want to call it.

In my case, I use the paywall only in the NSFW content for two reasons:

  • First, because I do not want to gain popularity with that kind of content, the paywall is a way to prevent people from finding it.
  • Second, because I know that Patrons like it, so I do it for them.

"Piracy has never harmed the film industry"

But it is not the same to pirate a big company like Disney, that pirate a small author.

Disney earns money for many more ways than cinema (such as toys, books, parks, video games, merchandising, etc.). I've always thought that hacking movies has never been a problem for the film industry, because when you go to the cinema, you do not pay to "see" the movie, you pay for "living" the experience of going to see the movie (big screen, huge popcorn, drink something with friends before entering the cinema, etc).

The same thing happens when you hacking a comic. When you do it, you want to consume the content, but when you buy it, it is because you want to collect it and make it yours.

But this does not apply with a small author. If you pirate my content ... there is nothing else ... there is no "use experience" or "collect", because everything I do is digital. Now I have about 40 Patrons, if it turns out that there are 140 people hacking me ... is a brutal hit to my economy.

"Patreon should not be a store, we support projects, not content"

But it is necessary to show some appreciation to the Patrons. Giving content every month is the minimum that I can be done. No one will support an author without receiving anything in return, this only works with NGOs (well, what you get in return is to feel good about yourself by helping someone who needs it)

Well, all these are excuses, because basically what they are looking for is free porn.

Solutions

So, it's okay to complain, but it's better to look for solutions. So, at the moment I'm going to do two things:

  • Speed up the comic
  • I'll publish the NSFW pics censored, but at the end of the month I'll send it uncensored... but the Patrons can find it uncensored on my website.

It's very nice of you to put your NSFW on display for all Patrons, though I have to admit I wonder how this will affect your Gumroad.

kawa_v

I think it is no affect, because I sell archives on Gumroad, not the access to see NSFW content. If you only want to see the NSFW, it is better get a Pledge on Patreon.

I'm still waiting for my confirmation email :(

I did a test and I received confirmation by email, could the email be in your spam box?
