It's a risk, but a calculated one. He's never seen me before, and while he's heard my voice continuously for a week I'm just silently observing him. My voice is counting down in his ears now. In 15 seconds he will open his eyes. In 20 seconds he'll be wide awake and the call to his cellphone will disconnect. He'll almost immediately realize that the next stop is his, jump up from his seat, and stand ready by the door. Then he'll get really confused about what he is wearing, having no memory of putting it on. There is only so much I can do with so little time. So much has changed during the past week that he'll be confused over and over. It will take him months to untangle what are his real memories and what was implanted.
