It wasn't just the excellent photo nikehypnosneak had selected but the structure of the caption itself that attracted me to the story. To forensically detail what had been done to the subject and finishing by telling the listener that he was next. I wanted to tone down the hypno-keyword-mumbo-jumbo and hide the twist a little more, though it's probably still pretty obvious to everyone. At least given the stories that surrounds it.

In my mind that story would probably be set in a living room where Blue would be around while two "normals" had a conversation, perhaps over a drink to administer the nap-time drugs. The photo however was set in a parking garage, and I wanted the "you're next" moment to be somewhere much more confined and private. But the demonstration happened in the garage. Who would the protagonist be that would see that and then step into a car to go to his house. I kept turning that in my head several directions before coming up with the meeting+garage+drive structure.

This is what I told someone about it:

I like the concept of the story Blue. It's more about finding a setup for it.
"I'm his legal guardian. He made some poor choices and got under the influence of some bad people. Made terrible things to him." Then go through all the results. "He's a walking list of mental disorders. Dumb as a bag of rocks to begin with, OCD about his physical appearance with a rigid exercise and diet plan, severe phobia to wearing anything but a narrow list of items from 8 specific sports brands, Tourette syndrome making vulgar language and behavior, several active addictions and triggered compulsions, off the charts hormone levels, and satyriasis."

I think I initially wanted Blue a bit less submissive and more assertive than he turned out, though I had someone say he didn't find him submissive at all. It's always a juggle to get all of the different stray ideas into the same story without them contradicting each other, and keeping a good pace. I had intended to say something about the tattoos and piercings too, that however did this grimed him up.
