Shedding (Patreon)

The direction I wanted here was someone who was already familiar with changes getting straddled with a transformation they don't quite agree with. The title I wrote before writing any of the text was "The Last Shed" like he knew there would be no more changes after this one. Instead of going with something unpredictable, like stress-induced changes as in Neal Stephenson's Seveneves, I went with an unexplained Fibonacci based sequence. A curse? Did he know beforehand it was Fibonacci or did he work it out?

Anyway, once I settled on that I wanted to place the series so he would be early-mid twenties and have quite some time in his new body, so I put the first change at 14 years old.

I was looking at a similar physique that just as well could have been used for the story, though obviously lots of elements would have to be changed. He might show up somewhere else instead...
