I like when I find interesting story concept outside of what I normally like. The tumblr blog  Swollen Tummies contains lots of stories about weird pregnancies, often in males and often unwanted. The tagline for the blog is  "G-get it out, get it out of me!"

I stumbled upon a story that fascinated me, but didn't like some of the psychology in the story nor the direction it took, so I decided to make my own version. Apparently the story was donated to the blog by an anonymous writer, so I couldn't get permission to do a rewrite, which I always strive for.

There were a lot of troubles finding good pictures for a story that mainly takes place under water and between a boy and an octopus mermaid, but I think it ended up in the right place, with a bit moody atmosphere.
