This arc is interesting

Brittany Mitchell

Dang Jack congratulations! Didn't know he was getting married 🩷

Hansen

Congrats jack

Jed

Its almost over :(

ssj4rit

Carter casually dropping Jack is getting married like Killua casually dropping he has a genie for a sister

nocomprendo

on the comment about how this show doesnt feel fluid, and more segmented, one of the very big reasons why this is my fav show and Togashi is the goat is because he only writes whatever he wants to. Not what the story needs, but what he thinks is fun or interesting, and because of that the plot and tone of the series can shift in many ways, but in most cases that makes the story and the world feel more alive. Life doesnt follow a straight path, Togashi wrtes characters that act on their own personalities. For example, he doesnt write Hisoka in a certain way to move the plot in a certain direction, instead he thinnks what would Hisoka do, even if it is to the detriment of other characters plotlines. When you are the goat you can write whatever the fuck you want xd

Sadoc

why is this hxh ep under the game of thrones tag

Michael H

It always seems to be an afterthought when people talk about the arcs of HxH, but it’s actually one of my favorites. Just kinda feels like we’re back to weird, old-school HxH.

e riv

It feels like Jack and Carter are getting married on the same day since they are planning their weddings 🤔. Either way congrats to both Geks soon to tie the knot 😊.

Jed

To the Geks, yes Ging got hit on purpose. He watched the portal open and you can see his body shift. Without spoilers from the manga, basically Ging decided to get hit for his own gain.

Sheru

JACK wedding!? What did miss!?

Justin Workman

In case you don't know, in the scene where Hisoka asks if he can kill Killua, the gesture he makes with his hand basically means rape. Which is why Illumi gets so angry.

Michael H

Another layer is peeled away from the onion that is Jack. First layer: he has a brother and sister. Second layer: One Piece is his jam. Third layer: he is a former international spy who gave up a life of intrigue to watch anime on a couch. Fourth layer: he is getting married. We are almost to the core of Jack.

Unika Ang

Congrats Jack!

Sith3619

Congrats to Jack

I still have beef with you not digging the Zodiac’s designs. You gotta dork out and keep power levels in mind, then you’ll get it. The Dragon and Kanzai just look like smoke demons. Snake is a baddie, Cheadle and Piyon are cute, and Ginta is that classic goofy unassuming looking character that you know is a problem . Eccentricity, casualness, all that is being utilized to subtlely project aura. One Piece is so good at this. A lesser mangaka would just take the lazy route and make the characters as edgy looking as possible to tell the audience they’re a problem. That shit is so corny to me. Chrollo’s design only works because he’s genuinely an interesting character. I need you to understand that Dragon guy with a six pack on his forehead is probably stronger than the old Netero that fought Meruem. He can most likely solo the entire Troupe like it’s a daycare center.

ssj4rit

Honestly my favorite part of HxH is how the side characters steal the show. I get annoyed in some other shounen when the main character eventually outpaces everyone and soon none of the interesting side characters are even relevant or impactful anymore.

Anna

Huge congrats to Jack!!! So exciting 🥂🍾

Fauget Remedy

Kite said that Ging is considered to be a "triple-star-hunter" but his just too lazy to do the paperwork and file it. So his stuck at being a double-star but in all honesty being called a Double Star or Triple Star those does not define your strength/power. It defines your achievements then you rank up after...

Guy

I know sometimes it's an easy detail to miss, especially during the fight between Gotoh and Hisoka, but in case you didn't know, Hisoka's nen has the properties of both rubber and gum

Jed

Man all of your wishes come true in the manga. Its such a shame that it hasn't been adapted and Togashi is taking forever to create more content. Hisoka is one of the main characters for the next arc smh.

nocomprendo

it definetly is not to everyone's liking, but im not alone in liking the structure of hxh, its been analyzed many times in the fandom. Its totally normal to prefer a more straightforward structure to a story, something like fmab

ffltscat

I also like Hisoka haha. Congrats Jack!

YourGuy

Hxh is darker than it seems. In the manga hisoka actually says “am i allowed to do killua” and the hand sign he is holding up in the anime and manga is the symbol for s**. The anime censored what hisoka said but kept the hand sign

Guy

But yeah, I totally agree with Carter's feeling of whiplash with the beginning of this last arc. It's another reason why the length of Chimera Ant just detracts from the show's quality somewhat. The arc is just barely under HALF of the entire show's length. It makes us forget how happy-go-lucky the show used to be when we spend 60+ episodes going down a darker path exploring more mature and complex themes. You can't just go back to normal after that. If the CA arc had been shorter or efficient with its time, it might not have felt so off putting

Professor Rizzard The Third

I totally agree with you, like each to their own and I get the boys don’t like it. But we don’t need every character to have a realistic or edgy design. It’s cool to have both mundane and eccentric designs in fiction. After all there are people in real life who are skilled, knowledgeable or powerful, who also look unusual or have eccentric style. Manga/anime just does this in extremes which is interesting to see. But again it’s down to personal taste. At least they are enjoying the arc somewhat.

Jonas Teigen

this arc is really good, but its very different.

kai

“my aura possesses the qualities of both gum and rubber” that shit cracks me up everytime

kai

and eww imagine picking hisoka over chrollo

Matthew Houston

For Ging being a double star, Kite I’m pretty sure literally says Ging is qualified to be a triple star hunter - but as far as his character he could either could care less about the status, or can’t be bothered to go through the process

Jonas Teigen

When are you gonna do more Naruto?

kingkoopa98

I think you guys will enjoy how this show wraps up

Elijah Slocombe

hes like, by far the more fleshed out character, and if you read the manga youd know he clears chrollo

Marlon

Hisoka is my favorite character too. He's iconic

Brittany Mitchell

Glad you guys agree that Killua is the best character in HxH ;) Amazing character development <3

ffltscat

The anime actually is not censored I think. The word is ‘yaru’ in Japanese, same in the anime and the manga. But the word can mean just kill or the s** thing you mentioned. Im not Japanese just learnt it for a while. If any Japanese here please correct me if I’m wrong.

Yoshi Go baa

Congratulations jack!

Laura

I feel like this arc is kinda similar to the Zoldyck Family arc in the sense that it isn't as strong as the other arcs but, it's still enjoyable. However, just like the Zoldyck Family arc, this is a pivotal transition into the next arc (which will probably never get animated...)

Laura 🦋

love to see the Geks stan Hisoka 😂

LeFlaneur

Hisoka is so vile, but I love him as a villain 😂 iconic chaotic evil

Fe

"he clears chrollo" are u sure it’s not the other way around

LeFlaneur

About the whiplash between arcs, I think it might have been better to end this series with 136 and just leaving with Killua determined to save Gon without revealing how. It would have been a bit of downer ending, but a revival series could have then picked up a few years later with the election arc followed by the arcs not animated yet.

Kayla Grabow

His wedding? The mans engaged? Congrats to him!

Nazerke K

♥︎ Hisoka, Chrollo, Pariston, Ging, Illumi, and other not main characters are well-written ♥︎ Togashi knows how to write interesting characters

Kite

the post is tagged as Game of Thrones

Pavlo

“How is that in 6th place”😭

Osvaldo

Still makes me a bit sad hearing Leorio. RIP to Leorio’s voice actor, One of the Goats.

arcv

I feel you on the transtion between the Chimera Ant Arc and the Chairman Election Arc. I think Togashi in the manga wasn't at his best health-wise around the end of the Chimera Ant Arc, so he didn't sit long enough with the end of the arc and the beginning of the next one. I wish we got to see more of Knuckle, Shoot, Palm, Morel, Knov... Chimera Ant Arc to me was never a drag, I honestly rank it as my favorite arc/season of any anime/show ever... Maybe it's because I watched it all in a few days, so the pacing never felt like a drag to me, and on every rewatch I clear the Chimera Ant Arc in under a week. I can't even explain how badly I miss the characters from that arc tho. I want to know how Shoot and Knuckle are doing.

arcv

I see other commenters saying Killua is the "greatest character", and while I do agree he's one of the greatest characters... I think his shine as a "relatable" character overshadows Gon's brilliance as a character in a bad way. Gon is every bit as a complicated and fascinating as Killua. His complicated nature is just less relatable to people and less applicable to the experiences of most people. His struggle with his pride and ego is really well done. He's one of the most flawed and yet still loveable protagonists in anime if you really sit with his character for a while. I think back to the Heavens Arena arc, where he risked his life to fight at the 200nd floor before he was ready. Or during the Phantom Troupe arc where he slammed Nobunaga's hand down in that arm wrestle. Or when he risked Killua, Bisky, and everyone else's lives when he screamed at the bomber on the phone during the Greed Island arc. Gon has ALWAYS been EXTREMELY flawed, and extremely selfish. His inner monster has always been teased. He's one of the best written characters in this show.

Jeff

I get how the Ant arc seems so quickly over with and thrown into the next. Def could use more aftereffects of how it affected the world/hunters.

LuvStarburst

In the manga Hisoka said something a lot worse than killing killua just so you know but it was censored on the show. I'm happy to see jack in his spot on this upload.

Pam

This is the repercussions of the CA, and society didn't really know much about the ants, so we're back to like society so it's the same feeling for us

Alexa

Everybody who likes calling Jack "hot glasses guy" is crying right now 🤣 congrats on the wedding, Jack!

Jyle

any naruto this week guys?!

Gabriel Machuca Wegermann

By the way, the Stars are basically given due to great achievements in advancement of humanity and are not necessarily representative of power. Say, if you were a single star medical hunter and you discovered the cure to cancer, you'd probably be given a triple star due to it being a beyond remarkable achievement.

poe

i agree Carter something just feels off after chimera ant arc

tomatosoup

140 is definitely one of the most hype HxH episodes haha

maxdemian1006

Its just personal opinion. Its not hard to see why one would say a lot of these characters look ridiculous. Dat horse guy for example. The problem a lot of people have I guess is that they cant take the character so seriously anymore when he looks like that. And that can take away from their experience of the show. Also I dont think that the only choices for these characters are either to look edgy or eccentric. Schurely there is more alternatives here.

maxdemian1006

I think there shoulda been more foreshadowing of Alluka tbh. Then it would feel less like a convenient asspull. Yea you could deduct that there was a sibling missing if you were observant earlier in the show, but dats not enough in my opinion.

Victor Haglund

I feel like HXH had so much potenital but as others have said the author didnt write it to be a fluid and complete story. It's more him having fun with it.

maxdemian1006

I donut think Cannon necessarily meant lazy writing regarding hxh here (or maybe he did), I think he just wanted to express dat just because youre a good author you can not write whatever and it will be good. And he wants to express dat just because its a good author and he thinks smth is fun or interesting it can excuse any direction in the story, fitting or non fitting. I donut know, but I think dats wat he was saying

Delane Gill

About Ging being a double star, in greed island Bisky mentions that he has the skill to be a triple star but since he doesn’t about all that’s stuff he never applied to receive his third star 😂

Osvaldo

No way Brig is playing college tennis being that old. I’d guess 21-23

Apex

Just read back the manga and couldn’t find what you meant, what are you referring to exactly?

Mia Malvik

Carter saying the rat reminds him of Light is so funny because those were my exact thoughts watching this for the first time. Something in those eyes man

Professor Rizzard The Third

It’s just different tastes, some characters are wild even for me (the horse guy as you mentioned. But it doesn’t ruin the experience for me, especially as he is a side character. I think it’s fine to not like the designs, but should it ruin the enjoyment? I don’t think it should. Our main characters look cool and drippy so who cares lol (no hate just my opinion)

Professor Rizzard The Third

CA had a good wrap up and resolution. But there is definitely a heavy tonal shift to this arc, so I see what Carters getting at. Togashi writes like that. Yorknew to Greed island? So different. Same with CA arc to this one. It’s exacerbated because of CA arc was long. I don’t think it’s bad, but I get what you’re saying.

Izaya

The guy from Greed Island is not a Hunter. And also, not every Hunter is employed by the Hunter's associassion

yio

feel like Carter just needs to swallow whatever it is thats holding him back from saying he dislikes some things in this show, like the tonal shift between CA and election arc. that being said, it seems like hxh is having a hard time pleasing him and Cannon. maybe its just me but like theres always smth they dont like about it and its getting old

Ali

Where the Naruto upload at guys? So inconsistent with it.

Izaya

I think Carter liked the Chimer Ant arc more than he thinks and let it show. It might be one of those experience that age better in the memory. For example, my current favorite game of all time wasn't the game i had most fun playing nor it was my favorite game while i was playing it. It took number 1 spot after many months or aging in the memory after beating it. Maybe the Chimera Ant arc is the same for them

Izaya

Lets remember that the show isn't over. So when Togashi was writing the story there was not a clear division or a threshold of episodes to end the story/arc like there is in the anime. He was writing it as a continuous experience so in his mind there is so much more to tell that he is not scared to change the focus for a while, since he can always bring back characters in the future. Note that there are around 100 chapters os the Manga there are still unadapted, so many things happen after the anime ends (and are still happening)

James

Some of them are in school so it's difficult to have a consistent schedule with the content load they currently have. They'll probably have more time for this channel when the semester ends for them.

Gabriel Machuca Wegermann

Also, in order to receive a Triple Star I'm pretty sure you also need to at least have a disciple that received a single star. Kite didn't have a star as far as I know and I don't think Ging is the type to have many disciples to begin with.

Asbjørn Kennedy

I agree about the weird feeling of going to CA to this - tho for me it isnt really about the tonal shift, and more about the secondary plotlines of CA kind of fizzling out, while the election and alluka plotlines feel random and forced. I dont really see why we as viewers are supposed to feel invested in the election whatsoever, and Alluka just came out of nowhere and suddenly means the world to Killua, despite him having forgotten completely about her up until now. Also I guess CA was much more character-driven, especially with the character development of the ants being such a massive part of it, and what made it interesting. It feels like HxH has gone back to being much more story-driven. All that said I do remember low key enjoying this arc, though that is entirely on the alluka plotline

Cannon Andrus

Dude 2 of the geks are getting married. Do you understand what that encompasses? We made a post a while back please go read it. We’ll upload Naruto when we can

yio

yea the way that Carter wants to see what happens to EVERY character (like ikalgo and meleoron) makes me think he'll enjoy smth very long like one piece which covers everything lmao

Cannon Andrus

I’m not going to write a comment when we have hours of intros and Outros about what we think

Jyle

Wait "grandmas" so who's all related to who lol? if you haven't already could you guys maybe post a video explaining how everyone met sometime? & how long everyone's been friends. I did know Mckay & Jack were brothers & Cannon & Carter but I didn't think you guys were cousins with Brig as well lol.

Keiji

The next arc in the manga has lots of Hisoka

Masta Jags

Congrats to Jack!

LL

This is a great idea. I feel like I know them, but I don't actually know anything about them lol

Christina Laegel

Carter...all I can say is to trust the process 😉 there’s still some things that need to happen before everything gets resolved

Soupy

The stars are somewhat irrelevant when it comes to a hunter in some cases. It mainly has to do with your feats in the specific type of hunter class you are in. A 1 star crime hunter could be leagues ahead of a 3 star food hunter in strength, but the foodie could have found rarer ingredients compared to how many mass murderers the crime hunter has caught. That could be said for all classes.

Christina Laegel

Oh and by the way! I felt the same after watching it the first time. However, on rewatch it doesn’t necessarily bother me as much cause I know what happens in this arc. And now that I’m rewatching it doesn’t really feel as disjointed for me. This arc for me feels more like the wrap up for chimera ant arc and the sedgeway into the next arc (for manga readers) than something necessarily standing on its own. You’ll see what I mean once you get to the end!

em1uni

Not even gonna lie i subscribed not knowing who was who until right now 🚶🏻‍♀️

Thtjustinguy

I love Hisoka, you just gotta look past his wierd parts.

Kyosuke Kagami

Killua requests that a female butler be present to accompany Alluka, clearly because Alluka is... a dude? 🙄 Right, okay, without a doubt that scene has forever put the debate on Alluka's gender to rest. Alluka is a (real/biological) female.

devakira

Yes Hisoka is such an interesting character I love him! Every time he appears on the screen I wonder what his next move will be he's so intriguing

ssj4rit

Tbh, I don’t think Carter really likes this show a lot and is just trying to be nice for the fans lol

Rosa

This wasnt in the anime but im pretty sure in chapter 7 during the Hunter Exam Gon tells Killua about his encounter with Kite and during that encounter Kite told Gon things about Ging and among those was how Ging meets the requirements to be a Triple star hunter (meaning he does have single star student at least) but hasnt bothered applying for it.

Rosa

Im a little late but as others have already explained the Stars dont necessarily mean much at least power wise. If i recall right Netero for example despite his overwhelming strength had no stars. They're pretty much just a sign that the receiver has contributed a lot to society. - 1 Star is given to Hunters who have produced remarkable achievements in a particular field. - 2 Stars you get from fulfilling the first 5 Hunter Bylaws, holding an official position in the Hunter Association (such as being a Zodiac) & have a student who has also received one Star. The first four Hunter Bylaws were something about always being on the hunt for something, knowing some martial arts & nen, your licence cannot be taken away but also dont lose it cos it wont be reissued, dont target other hunters unless if theyre criminals. The fifth is just the receiving one star thing. - 3 Stars are awarded to those who fullfill the first 6 Hunter Bylaws so the same as before just adding the 6th aka receive two stars and you have to produce remarkable achievements in multiple fields. I think there are a total of 10 Triple Star hunters.

Sam

This is how the star system works in the Hunter Association, and it will put into perspective just how absolutely insanely difficult it is to just be a SINGLE star hunter. To begin, there are 6 Articles of the Hunter Association. 1). A hunter must always be on the hunt for something. 2). A hunter must have a basic understanding of martial arts, including learning Nen. 3). Once a hunter is licensed, they must not have their license revoked for any reason. 4). Hunters shall not target other hunters unless they commit heinous crimes.... (this is where the stars come into play)... 5). A single star is awarded to a hunter who produces remarkable achievements in a particular field (i.e. taking down the chimera ants, discovering a new cure to a deadly illness, etc.) 6). Two stars are awarded to a Hunter who fulfills the the first Five Articles, holds an official position, and has mentored a junior Hunter who has been awarded one star. To earn a third star, you have to have made a remarkable achievement in MULTIPLE fields. It's like winning the Nobel Peace Prize, then having your student win the NPP, and then winning it again for something completely different. It's crazy, but 3 of the characters have managed to do it, being Pariston, Cheadle and Botobai.

Kyosuke Kagami

@Seifren Nah, staying silent about trans stuff is the reason they have attained so much power and influence in the first place. Most people don't want to make any waves even though they disagree with this ideology vehemently (either because it's simply in their nature to avoid conflict, or because they know they'll be cancelled for it). I say normalize calling it out as much as possible. Edit: Admittedly had to reign it in a little... apologies if this doesn't apply to you.

Sam

Doesn't Killua confirm that Alluka is biologically a male, but identifies as female? That's why every other Zoldyck refers to Alluka as a male (disrespecting her preferred pronouns), whereas Killua, being the loving brother he is, uses her preferred pronouns because it makes her happy.

Kyosuke Kagami

@Sam No, I don't think so. If it has, give me an episode and timestamp and I'll watch it now. Also I would add if Alluka were actually "trans" i.e. biological male but "mentally" female or whatever, then there would be no need for a female butler to accompany them. The request, to me at least, was obviously for restroom/female hygiene/etc reasons. Example being... with normal people in real life i.e. your family, you would want another female you trust to accompany your underage daughter or sister into the women's restroom, hence Killua requesting Canary.

kiiturii

wym "it's getting old"? It's not like they're making shit up just for the sake of it lmao they're just talking about their thoughts

kiiturii

bro why are you so weird. I've seen people argue all kinds of things about Alluka but the one agreed upon fact is that she was clearly born male lol.. I mean I tried researching this and everyone says she was born male regardless of what pronouns they think should be used for her... So idk wtf you are on If she was always female then why tf would Milluki call her a brother, and when she's initially introduced why would she be introduced as the family's youngest brother? Your argument about Killua wanting a girl butler to take care of her is so unbelievably trivial

yio

I mean it just feels like they're alot more critical with this show as opposed to other anime they've watched. But it's just a preference thing at the end of the day

Kyosuke Kagami

@kiiturii "I've seen everyone say it so it's true" is not a supporting argument. Worthless conjecture tbh. "Your argument about Killua wanting a girl butler to take care of her is so unbelievably trivial" It's not, at all. You don't let children go into a public restroom unaccompanied. There are weirdos in there waiting to do heinous things (especially these days). Tell me, why else would he request a female to accompany another female? It is extremely obvious, like immediately at face value, that scene is obvious. I don't understand how you could think it's trivial unless you've lived under a rock the entirety of your life.

ZappyZ

They explained it in plot, and it makes sense why Killua in the middle of a war with super ants couldnt really go into it. He had to survive and deal with himself and Gon. I can definitely see why people think its an asspull at first, I thought that for years. But then you notice some things on rewatch and realized hes been waiting to do this plot line with Alluka for a long while. You have to remember manga wise, the story goes much deeper into Alluka after where the anime ends, or at least plan to (the author is very sick and we'll be lucky to see it finished) youre seeing the start of a new main character for the story.

ZappyZ

One of the very early aot reactions went over it lol I forget which one though.

ZappyZ

Its not as far as you might think, and isnt progressing much if at all. Them including this arc was needed for an actual send off from the anime.

Kimmer

He let him hit so he can steal his ability.

brog

to this day they still call dodgeball volleyball

Saki

@Kyousuke Kagami It's less so about "everyone saying its true" and more so about the evidence used to back their claims. I myself can tell you that while the family actually often tends to use gender neutral terms such as "kyoudai" for "siblings", Illumi has referred to Alluka using "otouto" which specifically mean "younger brother". This really isn't hard info to find either though, and there are plenty of people who go more into depth on this. Really it just sounds like you have something against trans people, and would rather ignore the hints laid in front of you. It's also not strange at all for Killua to reference bringing Canary along so Alluka can have another girl around. Imo he also just wanted Canary along regardless cuz he trusts her and that was his excuse, but either way its been shown time and time again how much Killua supports Alluka, and how that may have been meant as a gender affirming moment for her too.

Justin Workman

In the manga, Hisoka instead said something like "Can I play with Killua?" And then made a gesture with his hand to put his thumb in between his ring and middle finger. Which is a gesture in Japan for rape.

James Perrott

Bro the zodiacs are some of the worst designed characters in the series cheadle and piyon are cute yes ging is ok but too scruffy for my liking pariston is weird but fine cow dude is unbeliably boring dragon guy is okay at best snake woman is ugly as hell and so uncanny Tiger guy is fine design wise but a completely 1 dimensional generic angry character Bird girl looks stupid and again, completely 1 dimensional, just a gimmick character saying the same 3 insults on loop giant sheep guy is just dreadful, horrible design, looks like a one piece character, boring personality monkey guy there is NO defence he just looks horrendous, plain and simple and jesus goddamn lord theres no way in HELL theres even a single living being on this planet who doesnt despise that abomination of a "horse"

James Perrott

how in any way would it make any amount of sense in that moment for him to be implying anything sexual asking if he can kill killua is 100% in character, and makes sense for illumi to snap none of that would make sense if its what youre impling, and would just be far too out there even for hunter x hunter

James Perrott

a dark solo killua arc focusing on going alone somewhere to manage to get a way to heal gon would be far better, but would also be even better if he fails and has to resort to joining back up with morel, knuckle shoot etc and cant do it alone then after all that, it can go into the election stuff

James Perrott

100% agree with Carter. Theres just no time to transition away from Chimera ant and were IMMEDIETELY thrown right into this goofy non serious for the most part arc. Its just a complete 180 back to old HxH and i honestly hate that Im very mixed on pre chimera ant arcs, but i loved the entire atmosphere and tone of the chimera ant arc, and hate how that serious dark nature is just entirely thrown away in an instant 136 was a great epilouge yes, but we got to see the ending for BROVADA of all characters, and the young ant girl, welfin, the chicken girl and goddamn BIZEF yet we dont even SEE Shoot, Palm, Ikalgo or Meloreon even for a second, not a single word about them till the series ends its like they just dont even exist. Even morel and knov, yeah we see a tiny bit of them, but barely anything, why are all these characters just thrown away when their arc ends, they should be mainstay characters just like hisoka. i just hate the tone shift more than anything, the entirety of this arc just feels off after watching the chimera ant arc, i genuinely wish the CA arc was the final arc of HxH and it concluded there, even if gon straight up died. but if it is gonna continue, it needed another arc before this whole dumb election stuff, like killua going on a journey alone to try and find some cure, failing and having to resort to asking for help from morel knuckle etc knowing he cant do it alone, and then finally healing gon with a big reuinion (though gon 100% should keep his arm missing), THEN we can transition into this election stuff (just make it less bad honestly)

JJ

ive been trying to figure out where these guys were from for so long, then he said utah and then everything clicked. it all instantly made sense
