I couldn't link this on YouTube in the comments section, but here is Rachel Sweet's earlier version of "Shadows of the Night" which I discussed over there. Most people don't know of it since Rachel is sadly not well known. As you can read in the comments people have made, there is considerable controversy over which version is better, with several people stating that Pat's version is more mainstream produced radio rock, while Rachel's is more soulful. Sweet never really got a good chance to make it. This version means a lot to me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zqf5ojFVsMU Rachel was a songwriter, as well as singer and changed some of the lyrics to "Shadows of the Night" with the songwriters' permission, D. L. Bryon. Pat Benater used some of Rachel's revised lyrics, so she must have liked them too. Another incredible song from this same album is "Party Girl" by Rachel Sweet, which is one of my all-time favorite '80's recordings and also posted on YouTube by me.

Oh yeah, Rachel Sweet's version of "Shadows of the Night" is a good one, she had a real nice voice (I wonder how she sounds these days?). Good upload, Tom. 👍 Rachel also did a good duet version of "Everlasting Love" with Rex Smith and a good mashup of the Crystals' "Then He Kissed Me" & the Ronettes' "Be My Baby", and funny enough all three songs were on the same album (aptly titled '...And Then He Kissed Me'). I've no doubt you've heard them, Tom, but I'll post the links anyway in case anyone else is interested and because Prim likes The Crystals' "Then He Kissed Me". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dwXeRX45Dzk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mAQtIHYrhX0
