Hello again guys! First of all I need to thank you all for being here, because House of Beef exists thanks to you and because of that I want that you play a key role in the decisions for many of the things that'll come.

As you know, producing the artwork for each update is a very demanding task that takes a HUGE load of time so I need to start planning things way ahead to be sure I’ll have the time to do all what needs to be done in time.

The day of Julian with Chuck will still last for a couple of updates more but after that it’ll be the ideal moment to see what comes next so here’s where you’ll start to make the decisions that will shape the future of House of Beef.

As you can see, the name of the game is “Stories from the House of Beef” for a reason. I was originally thinking about focusing in different series of events that would have different main “player” characters, sooooooo the first question is a very important one.

After Chuck’s day is over, would you like to keep seeing the events that will come from Julian’s perspective or would you like to switch to another main character to see some of the events to come from a different perspective for a time?
Julian is still going to be a key character, of course.
You have until this Friday to make your choice so thanks a lot for participating.

In all honesty I'm fine with either direction. If the story line will be pretty linear though, I like the idea of flipping between characters. 1. that would be a bit more realistic with multiple social events going on at the same time and 2. would make each update a bit more surprising because I'm not sure what I'll get into that day.

Meanbeard

I like the idea of switching to another character so we can get to know some of them a bit better and what makes them like or dislike Julian. As we get more of a peek into their lives this way.

Peterwolf

I would stick with julian, Dont get me wrong looking at things from other characters point of view would be nice, But Its going to be a hell of alot of work to accomplish. As you said its a huge amount of work for each update and it depends on how your going to go about the story after chucks interview. Will you do more interviews if so how many? Sam, Dozer, Gabe, Jack . Then there are the private commissions everyone is asking for. At the moment looks like about 6 months of updates per interview and thats not including if you have any side trips, dates or going to the club etc. It will be a HUGE undertaking to start Changing main characters unless of course you have found a way to clone yourself so you can get more done. Just my five cents worth But I do enjoy what you have done so far .

I like the idea of periodic switches to other characters. It is in keeping with the title more. But it is a lot of work so maybe just on occasion while keeping the focus on Julian?

Braford

Thank you very much, man and yeah ^_^ we're trying our best to keep things changing evolving in the best way we can.

Braford

I know but I have considered many alternatives. It wouldn't be a completely different story with a different main guy, besides the main star here will continue being Julian because a lot of the events coming will fall into his hands. So using other main characters would be like having side chapters to call it some way.

Braford

That's more close to what I have in mind in case that the second option wins. Julian is always going to have a larger role than the others since he has a lot of things to do at the gym. ^_^

Lord Memnar

Options never hurt anyone.

I do get what you're trying to do, I mean I have read your overtime comic ,oops artwork and that was dare i say Pant tightening, and with comics its easy to do a page jump with a meanwhile panel. and then jump back But House of beef looks like a whole different beast with assets and characters that move and animation etc. That's what makes your VN so unique, Others just put up a background and just change Dialogue boxes and not show any characters, or if they do its just a face change. Reading the credits at the end of the game you have some talent that are doing their own stuff helping out, your better of getting their opinion since they've already doing it. I only found your VN at update 1.14 so I played for a bit till i caught up, but now I'm dying every month waiting for an update and its already the 2nd anniversary and game timeline is only what 2 or 3 days in I might not live long enough to get to a weeks worth of game timeline. Ha Ha But like I said I think Quality is far better than quantity and I really do like the VN style you have chosen because its more like a continuation of your comics and your unique style.

Braford

Thank you very much man! I really appreciate what you said and I'm glad you like the game's style. To keep some consistency between the comics and the game was one of my main goals and yeah, doing this game has proven to be a challenge way more complex than doing a comic, but at the same time I like this format because it allows me to tell a story in a way it wouldn't be possible in a comic. We're trying to keep looking ways to improve it and many new things will come with time so thanks a lot again !

Grifter Wolf

Such a tough decision because I like Julian and I like the center of his role in the story so far. It gives him an excuse to enjoy the company of everyone. I'd say branch off if you can, give people an option to choose to continue with Julian or switch the focus to another storyline for a while. I"ll probably stick with the doggy though ;)

While I personally would love to see other character's more, I think you will do yourself a favor to keep up with Julian for now so that you don't spread yourself too thin. It would be harder to manage multiple stories than just one.

Leighton Fincham

No you have to stay with Julian but may be stories from the house of beef but he is the centre of it all everyone else is amazing but I feel that branching off would be like a step backwards, we have been two years getting to know him, and I understand people wanting to see someone else take the spotlight but it wont compare to the hard work that has been put into the last two years.

jovuan Jackson

Doesn't matter which but switching to other characters might work to get know them more.

Braford

Thanks for the comment man, I didn't reply sooner to avoid saying something that could influence the voting at an early stage but now it's almost over I can say I like having Julian as the focus of the story because I like him having a narrator's role. But since many guys have been suggesting me other options I had to ask. I might do small focus changes for certain ahem! "situations" but not in a way that implies giving Julian's role to someone else. He's going to continue being the star of this show heheheh ^_^

Braford

Thanks a lot man and yeah, I prefer the idea of staying with Jul but at some point I'll probably do some scenes where others gets the spotlight for obvious reasons I can't mention yet. No spoilers ^_~ But Jul is going to keep his main role.

Braford

Thanks, man and don't worry, there will be plenty of chances to get to know the other guys better while Julian keeps his main role.

Braford

We'll see more of many other guys along the way, while Jul keeps his position as lead star ^_^
