Oki doki, with RE4 Remake coming soon, I decided to revisit the previous games and, maybe, trying to get the platinum in some of them (spoiler alert: I couldn't). Also, I wanted to make some pics of the best RE waifus while I share some memories with you about myself being a long time fan of the series.

So yeah, let’s begin with RE Zero and Rebecca Chambers who, for a long time, was my favorite RE waifu. Why? She’s a red head, why do you think?

Anyway, being my favorite character, I was so hyped to play as her in the, back then, upcoming RE Zero, specially since I had just finished the incredible RE 1 Remake. The problem? I didn’t have a Gamecube. I could only play and finish the remake thanks to a “friend” called Bryan who had the console and… well, let’s just say that I never liked that guy, but I did like playing with his consoles, and he was a RE junky as myself.

When I asked him if he was going to buy the game, he said that he wasn’t interested. After all, he found Remake, listen to this, “Kind of boring. Not that scary or challenging” and getting the infinite guns was “one of the easiest tasks he has done in any RE”, and considering that he had unlocked everything in every RE back then, I thought that maybe he was right, at least the part of not challenging enough to unlock the weapons. (years later, I discovered that he never unlocked sh*t, he just got the save files from other friends).

Month after month I was looking for recent news about the game. The new characters (I remember thinking that Billy looked so badass… LOL, that’s teen JJ for ya), the new gameplay, the new story, the same incredible graphics as the Remake. The hype was real, I tell you!

The release day finally arrived and I saw the game in the shelf telling me “c´mon, JJ, buy me. You know you want to. Don’t you love Rebecca? Don’t you love RE?”. My 16th birthday was a few days ago, so I ask, no, I begged my dad to buy me the game as an extra present. But when I told him the price, he said “WHAT?! Why it’s so expensive?!”. “It’s an original game” I said. “And why don’t you buy a pirate copy like the rest of your PS1 games?” (Yes, I bought pirate games. Don’t judge me). “ ’cause it’s not for Playstation, dad. It’s for Gamecube!”

My dad gave me a “you serious?” look and continued: “You don’t have one of those”. “But Bryan does!” – I quickly replied – “and if I get the game, He will let me play it!”. He looked at me for like 10 seconds and said. “So, you want an original game, for a console you don’t have, to play it with a dude you dislike? Forget it, buddy.” He ended the conversation saying “Relax, son. That’s a popular franchise, right? I’m sure you’ll be able to play it sooner or later in one of your consoles”.

So yeah… 15 years later, in 2017, when I got my PS4 and looking for some new games to play, I found a second hand copy of RE: Origins Collection. My inner teen screamed with joy, and, after remembering old memories with the Remake (Heck, I even unlocked the rocket launcher and the samurai edge of my first run… huh, maybe Bryan was right about the challenge), I continued with my long waited first playthrough of RE Zero. And boy, oh boy. I thought RE Code: Veronica was the cheesiest and hammiest RE… at it still was, but RE0 takes the second place! Truth be told, I liked the game, I even unlocked the unlimited ammo and stuff, but being and more objective RE fan, I have to say that the plot was beyond unnecessary, the villain was laughable cartoonish (lmao, controlling leeches by singing opera), the dialogues, oh goodness gracious, the dialogues, and, on the top of this huge ham and cheese sandwich, a gameplay that got a little annoying with the poor inventory management.

Recently I tried to give it a new try on hard difficulty (told you, I was trying to platinum the game) but, on hard mode, the game gets even worse with the poor AI and I got stuck at the last battle with the Queen Leech because if the stupid AI of my partner… Oh well.

So yeah, this was my experience with Resident Evil Zero. Rebecca may not be my favorite RE waifu anymore, but still, here’s a sexy pic of her.
