Call them what you like: resolutions, plans, goals, best intentions. At the beginning of the year, you lay them all out. I'm going to do (insert here) this year.

Now it's here. The end of the year, and I'm both proud and depressed about what I did and did not accomplish in 2023. I'm telling, y'all, life has a way of kicking you in the nuts just when you think you have it all figured out.

For example, I had every intention of putting out the second book in the Season of August series in November...of 2022. 😜 It is done. Mostly. 80% . But I can never seem to find the time to sit and finish it.

I also had every intention of getting my diet and exercise routine back on track. Yeah, between illness, the day job, and the trials and tribulations of having children who are transitioning to college-attending adults, I never got it together.  I am a stress eater, and those of you who could describe yourself as the same, you feel my pain.

I've tried to be more social and joined a cocktail club, and I am attempting to date. Attempting is the operative word. Holy crap is it tough out there.

And I started this Patreon page! Yay! I so appreciate all of you who have been here while I've been trying to figure out what to share with you. As you can tell, I'm still trying to figure it out, and would love your suggestions.

So what are my intentions for December? I will be continuing with full episode watch-alongs of The Expanse, Yellowstone, and 1883. I'll also be continuing with Gen V, and Reacher season 2.

And from the poll there was a three-way tie! Thanks for narrowing my choices down- not! To balance the darkness of 1883, I'll be starting with One Piece and then moving on to The Fall of the House of Usher just in time for the dark of winter. I will definitely need all the virtual hugs for that one!

Will there be more? Maybe? Possibly? Who knows what life will allow.

Which is why I send this holiday wish to all of you. At the end of each of my videos I leave a few words to remind y'all to take care of yourselves. Stretch, stay hydrated, take five seconds to breathe and remember to enjoy the moment. Yes, I also say it to remind myself, but my wish is that you finish this year remembering the better parts more than the misses. That while you are out in the cold and the bustle of holiday shopping and family times, you remember to be kind to yourself.

Thank you so much for being a highlight of this year! And I would love to hear what highlights you had in your world. What better time than now to celebrate the love.

One lesson I have had to learn this year is to look at small steps of progress as progress not as failing to get as far as I hoped. I think we all think we have the energy, time and stamina we had 5 years ago and it’s hard to learn that we don’t. Thank you for all the time you spent putting together this Patreon one of my goals in 2024 is to get caught up on it. Happy Holidays

This is going to sound very corny but one thing I continue to be grateful for is this very show! My little sister who is brilliant and a sci fi fantasy savant started me on the books and once I realized there was a show I got very excited and started watching it in the second season on a weekly basis as it came out. I fell in love with it (and there are very few shows I can say that about!) and when we found out in May of 2018 that the show was cancelled on SyFy I was devastated! I joined the effort to have the show picked up by another network and it was something I had never even contemplated before but I knew how good the books were and how much we needed the next three seasons that we finally got! It was one of the best days when in late May 2018 the head of Amazon announced that the show was saved. Since that time I have devoured the rest of the seasons and followed as many reactors to The Expanse as I possibly could (in the dozens by now!) in order to continue to promote the show as there are three more books that really need to be put on the screen. Anyhow, I enjoy your reactions very much, I wish for you the energy to get back on track with the other things that balance life (exercise, social interaction etc) and a very happy holiday with your family!
