This flashback took like three times as long to draw as the rest of the comic with all the hatching on the bruises, so I’m glad we’re done with it.

Yeah, I figure if one dude out of the whole group got a little busted up but otherwise everyone came back pretty okay, they’d generally agree those weren’t bad orders. I haven’t thought a whole lot about the details of this excursion, but I think the plan was generally something along the lines of “we’ll sacrifice the insubordinate troublemaker with the biggest, strongest Pokemon to draw fire while the rest of y’all just run through and hope no one notices”
