Hey folks,

Time for a new Game progress report entirely on Barb upcoming 3.3 patch.

Progress has been great, we're getting ever closer to a patch ;)

Disclaimer: I'm posting these to be transparent on game development and show progress done. However, it goes without saying that some of the stuff you see here may considered to be spoilers. Although I do my best to keep the big narrative points out (and believe me, there is a lot I would like to show, but that I'm leaving out for you to find and experience in game.)

With that said, here is what you need to know:



- NARRATIVE PROGRESS -

Narratively, I've achieved my goal for this month, which is to cover all the narrative events to introduce Barb and her level. The goal was to really set the mood, which I think was achieved very well with proper sound mixing, animated image sequences etc... I won't say more than that to avoid spoilers obviously, but know that the general "Intro sequences" needed for the patch are done.




- NEW QTE SYSTEM -

The new QTE system is now done and fully functional. It is minimalistic in design and will feel much snappier than the older version. In addition I've made the new system very "plug and play". Similar to a plugin so that I can easily re-use for many other scenarios. With a lot of easy ways to change variables to it, to adjust difficulty levels if need be.

All and all, it's feels and looks much better. And I'm excited for you folks to try it out and experience how great it feels compared to the older version.

For the next patch, you'll get to do just that for one of the different Sub ash mini-games, in this case... The boot-licking mini-game. Which is fully implemented and functional with all the sound effects, and great animations.

It's really fun to play and watch.




- NEW IMAGE ASSETS -

Two new image assets were added to flesh out the experience even further.

First, Barb on her throne looking down on you. Which is also used for dialog sequences ;)

The second, is a special character that you'll get to meet but I won't share about them for now, as I want to keep the surprise in-game when the first patch is out.
So for now, a silhouette will have to do as a teaser, but I will make a more extensive presentation about them in a future patch report.

- NEW SPRITES-

New sprites and sprite animations were added for different events and sequences which are required for the first patch. I'll leave these here for you to check out, but would rather not explain exactly what the second one is about just yet. I'll leave it to your imagination ;)



- What left before the new patch? -

As I said, I've managed to finish all the intro events for both the Warrior and  Sub Ash paths. And I have one of the mini-games for you guys to play with when it comes out on the sub ash path.

So what's left?

Some base elements for the combat on the warrior Ash path. Although, Sub Ash is the focus with Barb, there are special things to look forward to in that regard as well. And that will be the focus this coming month. I will dedicate a report on that this month as well.

Once that is out of way, I'll be very close to the patch launching with some narrative events to add.

One important thing I want to share as well. Is that Barb's level will have more "choices and consequences" than ever before. And you will feel that even in that first patch. I want you to WANT to replay her level just to check "what happens if I made that choice" and really reward you for it. This is why this is taking time, its much more ambitious, but progress is good and I'm getting closer and closer to a releasable patch.

Truth be told, I could make a patch right now, but I do want to achieve a certain "minimal" content benchmark before I share that patch with you. So that you get a great experience for that first patch and not just a "Oh it's just the intro sequence" as It was before. I want some juicy stuff for you guys to enjoy.

I'm getting closer and closer to it. I think that after I finish the combat sequence this month, it really won't be long before a patch comes out. And I'll be sure to keep you folks in the loop.

As I said, with the big sets now over. Progress on games will keep going consistently every month.
