2020 mini-update (Patreon)

So just a quick update/sum-up on where things are at this year, projects-wise!

I'd like to get back on track to finishing at least one project per month, so my current aim is that "castle lady squish" piece; in theory, it's ready to go on rendering, and with the amount of detail in Iray renders, postwork can be far more minimal. The issue is that, quite simply, Iray renders are a bit taxing and I have no idea how long one will take, nor am I all that good at figuring out the settings yet. (Last one I tried was Chelsea, and after a few hours straight of rendering, the end result was still too grainy and dark to be salvaged; I needed to probably let it go for even longer, or adjust some other settings in it.)

Fingers crossed this one goes smoothly! I'd like to finish that as soon as tomorrow, if I can. Just gotta hit the render button and hope all works out. And probably hurry up on researching and purchasing those PC upgrades ASAP.

There's also the Ruri+Lissa+Kuchi scene I'm working on; it's probably not going to take too long to get together, but highly unlikely to be done as soon as this month. It might be a candidate for next month's project, however.

Lastly, there's a couple smaller projects on the burners, I'm working on a character update for a very old character of mine, Yulma. A few other might also get some work along the way, so expect to see those start popping up soon too! If I can't finish either of the above, I'd like to at least have Yulma finished this month. I keep undervaluing just how much time goes into these character updates/reworks/designs as well, the end result is less spectacular I feel, but I'm already quite a few hours of work into simply getting Yulma's model back up to date with things!

2020 is going to start slow overall, I think it's safe to say. 2019 was a crummy year and it's finally over, but changing calendars isn't as complete a refresh as it sometimes feels like it should be; it'll take time to get momentum going into this new year. But I'm very much determined and excited to start making things happen, to make this year a positive one. And I hope it goes just as well for all of you, too. ^^
