“Kill any of these people! Is it possible for any of them to die?” - Steve on the titular Expendables

On this week’s episode, after we figure out how to pronounce the title, we’re chatting about the fourth, and likely final, film in the franchise, Expend4bles! Is it time to wrap up the franchise when the casting ‘gets’ keep getting smaller and smaller? Why can’t Jason Statham and Tony Jaa get some buddy action film instead? Why did the film team rely on so much wretched CGI? And how are we rooting for Sly’s character after he straight-up murders a (more or less) innocent man? PLUS: Larry the Cable Guy joins the next Expendables line-up!

Expend4bles stars Jason Statham, Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson, Megan Fox, Dolph Lundgren, Tony Jaa, Eko Uwais, Andy Garcia, Randy Couture, Jacob Scipio, Levy Tran, Lucy Newman-Williams, and Sylvester Stallone as Barney; directed by Scott Waugh.

Wow!! Weird release time

Felix Forrester

"Pussy Christmas" is absolutely my new drag name.

Luke Witherell

Toll Road fan club rise up

John Edwards

I know "Larry the Cable" is likely just a typo, but I'm imagining Larry as drawn by Rob Liefeld and cackling my head off.

gavin

Toll road is by far my favorite character having only experienced theses movies through whm episodes

Felipe Sobreiro

4ndrew, C4bin, Szyszk4 and S4jd4k

god what a shitshow of a film. I generally liked the franchise (part 2 being the best of them)...but this was the definition of phoned in. Lots of the scenes looked green screened (those boat scenes looked so fake)....and my mind was boggled when they played a 50 Cent song in film...like is there a 50 Cent equivalent in universe, who also looks like the character 50 plays? This was basically a handoff to Statham, but was done so bad. To cleanse your pallet, watch the Bee Keeper for a better Statham film

Smaug

Now I need Felipe to draw them as 4 anthropomorphized letter "A"s

John Locke

I'm 5 minutes into this movie and I already hate it. Maybe I'll just listen to the episode blind.

Smaug

Please tell Steve I miss the VHS trailer game dearly, his work as the Jame Master is beloved by this man. Also, Eric's Schwarzenegger EZ Pass joke is my favorite of 2024 so far

Billy Jay

Probably because I usually don’t see it till I wake up but I was up partying late! My bad, sir

Kyle Reeder

Andrew the Fat guy you are thinking of is Mike Busey. The article about him and his parties at his house he calls the Sausage Castle was in Vice.

Jason

I always chuckle at the tough-guy nicknames. Do people really have these movie-dude nicknames? I don't think I've ever met anyone that has been like here's my boys: Drop-foot, Pud, and Slow Jams.

Darcy

Ka4tin Ca4bin 👌

Mark D Myers

I liked this movie. To thy self be true.

Hard To Gwil

There's a chance I was too stoned but I counted 9 minutes of credits. Just 4wful

Mark Ibarra

I'll wait for "EXPENDABLE5."

Chris Rose

I think you dudes may have summoned a demon with that intro

Mark Ibarra

Yeah I'll never watch it. The guys are funny as usual, but man, some movies just sound like a shitstorm of mediocrity that constantly threatens to infect an episode.

Derek Baxter

Andrew’s delivery, as Arnold, of “Now you are driving straight through and not stopping on your way to heaven” had me cackling.

Catboyslim

How’s your balls hanging? Erik is thinking of Clackers, 2 glass balls the size of an egg connected by a string. You hold the string at its half length and let the glasses balls clack together. A 70’s toy outlawed due to the glass fragmenting and putting out somebody’s eye.

John Locke

This episode was so good that I just had to finish the movie after initially quiting 5 minutes into it. Because there was no way this could be as shitty as you described. But oh boy. This is even worse that I thought. And what happened to Andy Garcia?? Doesn't even look or sound like him.

RJ Cunningham

Was only able to make it through the first half hour and gotta admit, I assumed Sly truly wanted out of this series and with the plane crash and then body parts on the bar I figured he was truly dead. To hear he lived?! I had a sincere “wow!” in my head hearing you guys announce that. So all in all gotta say not a bad flick

Ray

I gotta go back and watch the movie. This was one of those I thought I could get away with not watching.

Paul DeCoursey-Clark

Oh man, this inspired me to go back and listen again to the original Expendables conversation and THAT was the origin of Steve explaining to the rest of the guys about the Stalked by my Doctor series. Just a taste: Andrew: There's a SERIES of WHAT THE HELL? Steve: There's at least three ... Eric: He's in every one? Steve: He's the doctor who stalks!
