On our final commentary of the year, we’re chatting over what is possibly the best entry in the franchise, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban! How refreshing is it to get a wildly better director at the helm? Why did Dumbledore think Hagrid was cleared for teaching? How funny is that executioner fella’s get-up? Is this the grossest werewolf design in film history? And is there a soul alive who doesn’t know we despise J.K. Rowling? PLUS: Turns out Professor Snape has a goon cave beneath the school!

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban stars Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Richard Griffiths, Fiona Shaw, David Thewlis, David Bradley, Michael Gambon, Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman, Maggie Smith, Robbie Coltrane, Tom Felton, Matthew Lewis, Timothy Spall, and Gary Oldman as Sirius Black; directed by Alfonso Cuarón.

If you need to restart your commentary sync, remember that the commentary proper begins at 00:05:25 of this audio track and we start the blu-ray at the 00:00:05 mark!

And one more time for Slow Joe in the back row, we despise J.K. Rowling!

I wonder if this is the movie that ignited the Draco/Hermione ship (Dramione of course).

I'm already anticipating next year's commentary, GoF is my favorite of the series (book and movie) and there's also SO much to make fun of. I hope you guys are around long enough to go through all of them. The podcast I mean. Not that you're dying, probably. The music in this one is extra gorgeous though. And I love the little scenes showing the passage of time on the school grounds. Also the freeze frame is always a surprise somehow, truly an incredible choice.

If you took a drink every time they say goon or gooning you'd be dead.

Omg I am very late to this party but I howled at "playing guitar in AFI haircut"

That bit at the end with the broom actually happened at Christmas in the book so he didn't know it was from Sirius and the school confiscated it to test it for curses
