On this month's trip into The Nexus, the guys are talking about two pretty solid episodes of Trek, but one of the two is an episode for the history books!

First up on TOS is the infamous episode, "Patterns of Force." Originally airing February 16, 1968, this ep sees Kirk & Co. heading to, you guessed it, a Nazi planet! What are the odds Kirk's old teacher turned out to be the creator of the entire Nazi Alien civilization? How heavy-handed is all the political commentary here? And what in the world was with that documentary crew?

Then on TNG, it's "The Survivors." Originally airing October 7, 1989, this episode features Riker getting turned into a human tether ball game, the Enterprise battling with a rogue starship, and Picard harassing an elderly couple!

PLUS: Kevin is not a space name.

The Nexus is a WHM podcast where the guys futilely go through two Star Trek series at the same time. Thank you so much for continuing to support this weird thing we do—we couldn't do it without you!

Will the WHM gang vote for TOS or TNG on this episode? My guess is TOS.

I feel so weird toward the episode of TOS I just don’t think they should’ve use actual Nazi symbols because it seems like the episode has something to say about the Nazis itself rather than when I think it actually want to talk about and that is what the Nazis were metaphorically in a detached sense but I think they failed by actually trying to make me think that Hitler might be a scapegoat and that the only reason the higher-ups did the horrible things that they did was because if they were corrupted by one ““ evil being” but maybe I’m just thinking too far however the episode left a very bad taste in my mouth

Sorry for all the typing mistakes I’m a bit buzzed and I fuck up while typing and auto correct is not much help lol

Imagine the terrifying planet that an unchecked Jordan Peterson would create

For an insurrection style story in Star Trek, see the episodes "Homefront" and "Paradise Lost" in Deep Space Nine. Of course, in that story, it's a crooked Admiral and other crooked officers trying to overthrow a seemingly good Federation President for being too "weak," and not a weak/loser president encouraging a bunch of fascist piles of sh!t to overthrow the rest of the government except for him.

There's a fine line between what TOS is able to accomplish in this episode and 'the Negron Complex' joke from Mad Men. It's easy to see here why the show was able to endure between the original run of shows and the motion picture

Hey I was right! I think Kevin ruined the TNG episode. Kevin!

Eric's Death in June reference made me cackle

I would have liked Q showing up just to mock Kevin's name.
