On this month's AD, the gang tackles their longest cartoon yet, the feature-length animated film, Batman: Mask of the Phantasm! Released on Christmas 1993, this rushed-to-theaters project could've been a total disaster, but instead completely rules and features Bruce Wayne flashbacks that don't show you his parents getting gunned down, a lot of hilarious mafioso murders, a solid outing to the Gotham World's Fair, and another magnificent performance from Mark Hamill as the Joker! PLUS: "And Robert Pattinson as Mr. Good Time!"

I've been waiting for this, pure art and I still kick myself for not keeping the toys

Darryl Bowen

This and that Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker are probably the only two Batman animated movies worth a damn.

Matt Eldritch

I enjoyed the movie, but it did just kinda feel like a higher budgeted episode of the cartoon. Not a bad thing, but compared to Return of the Joker, this one isn't quite it.

Will not accept this slander against the Batman Beyond theme!

Frank Grimes

thought SubZero was good for closing Mr. Freeze's arc...just a shame they walked it back on his final appearance on the new batman adventures

Frank Grimes

I must say, your Hamill as joker impression is pretty good

Tristan

Great movie and great WHM episode. Batman has a lot of love stories, some can pull on ya. But overall it’s hard to feel bad for him if one doesn’t work out because he can just fall back on his stable: Vicky Vale, Catwoman, Wonder Woman, Chase Meridian, Barbara Gordan, Talia al Ghul, Zatanna, or Lois Lane.

Randy Record

Surprisingly, Batman VS Ninja Turtle is a lot off fun

Convincing John

Watched this for the first time because you guys were covering it and I'm glad I did! Also: since you guys are doing Muppet Christmas Carol for We Love Movies month, is there a chance you'll do any puppet-based shows for Animation Damnation in the future? (This is my transparent attempt to try and get Fraggle Rock into a future WLM December. ...wow, with this username I now look very overinvested in this.)

Matthew Kennedy

Loved listening to the gang talk about the best version of Batman to date. More please!

I totally get that. I had fun with the movie. Thinking maybe its a thing of its time that the animation and story was exceptional.

Darren

Under the red hood is pretty sweet. Batman ninja is definitely a hot piece of gaaarbage.
