On this month's voyage into The Nexus, the gang, once again, is talking about one excellent episode of Trek and another... not so excellent one. First, on TOS, it's one of the best episodes of television ever produced, "The City on the Edge of Forever"! Originally airing April 6th, 1967, this classic episode features Kirk stealing laundry, McCoy having a bad drug trip, and Spock insisting that, yes, Edith Keeler must die.

Then, over on TNG, it's another obnoxious trip into the holodeck with "Elementary, Dear Data"! Originally airing December 3rd, 1988, this dud of a season 2 ep features Geordi building a model ship to suck up to an old boss, Data cheating at a mystery game, Pulaski showing more of her robot racism, and Picard wearing a funny hat! PLUS: The butler from TV's The Nanny!

The Nexus is a We Hate Movies podcast where the guys futilely go through two Star Trek series at the same time. Thank you so much for continuing to support this weird thing!

City is absolutely the best TOS Trek. Harlan Ellison, as would befit his reputation, hated it and I believe he eventually published his original screenplay he felt they ruined.

You can buy it as a graphic novel. It’s not half bad to be honest.

Frank Grimes

So true about Voyager going overboard with the Holodeck eps (and lesser extent Holograms, outside The Doctor). The Fair Haven eps are some of the worst, or when the holograms rebel...

Smile like you mean it, you green-blooded Vulcan!

Paul

You killed me with The Killers references.

Edith Keeler seemed pretty reasonable, couldn't they have taught her to punch Nazis instead of killing her?
