Holy smokes, folks, beyond any human logic, there's another Bad Boys motion picture out this weekend with Bad Boys: Ride or Die! After that lackluster third movie, I was almost certain it was the last time we'd seen Mike and Marcus on screen, but, hey, here we are!

Sony has done a good job at promoting the hell out of this one, so between running the trailer endlessly in cinemas, and all the TV and internet ad buys, people are definitely aware there's a new Bad Boys picture here.

Considering the recent failures of things like Furiosa, it's understandable to think this one may underperform, but it's not impossible to think this could cross $40M easily. If things really work for this title, and folks decide to come out this weekend, like perfect storm, everything goes perfectly, it could even get up to $60M.

Bad Boys for Life opened to $62.5M in 2020 and wound up grossing $204.4M domestically, so clearly the hunger for more Mike & Marcus shenanigans was there. And they are also keeping Joey Pants stans in mind with this new one because, even after his assassination the last movie, they have Captain Howard return a la Jamie Kennedy's Randy Meeks in Scream 3, making that "if you're seeing this I'm probably dead" video— so all bases are covered!

The one thing I do not believe affects the numbers here at all is Will Smith and The Slap. I think most sane people have moved on from that incident and the online good will toward the Fresh Prince is still clearly there. So anyone saying that incident at the Oscars two years ago will have any sway over this movie's success or failure, I believe, is totally off-base.

So what do we think, gang? We'll go with a classic Under Perform/Sweet Spot/Over Perform this week. Vote in the poll below and we'll see how it shakes out when we report back on Monday's On-Screen Live!

Have a great weekend, everybody! Watch some good stuff! - Andrew

Gonna say 45-60. Saw it last night, and it was nonstop action from the beginning. It seems like whenever Will and Martin get back together, it's like they never left...neither lost a step as Mike or Marcus.

I remember 3 being a step up on 2, and a good place to end it. At least it’s coming to theatres unlike Beverly Hills cop4, oohf. But in a world where furiosa bombed I hope this doesn’t beat it

Considering the lacklustre box office recently, I think this will still underperform, though probably still do quite well.

Mark Clegg

If this underperforms, it will be a real slap in the face

After that abysmal third installment, I hope this is better because 1 and 2 were a lot of fun (though nor necessarily GOOD), but with the way the box office has been this year, with the exception of Dune 2, I don't see this doing that well. I haven't seen many ads for it (only trailers in theaters), but I also don't have TV outside of streaming, so I'm sure I've missed a lot.

I will say, normally the NBA Finals movie mash-up commercials irritate me, but I thought the one with Jimmy Butler trying out to Bea Bad Boy was pretty funny

Not me enjoying the 3rd one the most. Might be my Michael Bay aversion. Skinny white boy.

My favorite Bad Boys movie is the 1983 Sean Penn one
