Hey Flufferschnoots! I took a hike up to Saddle Mountain, one of the tallest peaks in the Oregon Coast Range! At just 3,288ft, it’s actually a rather small mountain but it’s predominance makes for some incredible views.

So normally I'd embed the photos into the post along with a short paragraph for each set. This time, I'm using just the Patreon image-type post. Let me know if you have a preference! ~

Most of the scenery pictures are washed out because I took them with my phone. My darn Sony camera decided to stop working when we got there. I’ve noticed the focus going bad for a while but it went kaput on this trip.

The scale of the mountain was fascinating. From the parking lot, it looked kind of small. But when you move, you realize it’s not moving (parallax effect?). It’s really big!

The trail was very steep. It was tiring to ascend and made for a treacherous decent. The scenery was mixed between very dense forest to paths upon cliffs or hills with exceptionally steep grades. The trail is rated for experienced climbers and it’s no joke!

We did our best to make it to the summit but we were tired, it was getting warm, and there was no shade to the top. We were in the middle “hump” of the mountain and there was probably 20 minutes of hiking left.

Instead, we went to an outcropping where I took some pictures and flew my Dad's drone!

I'm an OK pilot but I haven't flown in a year. Some of the footage is pretty good but something was messed up with the camera. The footage is way overexposed. I might be able to correct it but it'll still look odd.

My Dad is like me with his interests and fixations. He’s always crazy about kayaking during the summer but this is the first he’s been suddenly into hiking haha. I’m here for it though, it was really cathartic and, most importantly, Garrus had a great time!

I didn’t get any good pictures of him because we were always moving but I assure you that he had a great time yesterday and he’s having a great time laying about today!

I hope you Flufferschnoots have a great weekend! 💙
