This video has a funny story.

I originally wrote it to be a huge punch at Kdenlive, specifically, why I use 18.12 instead of the mess that it 20.08.

When I was preparing the voice over, I decided that rather than attacking it, why not promote it and briefly explain why I use 18.12 instead of the latest version.

As I rewrote the script, it became a "Why Kdenlive is the best free editor" sort of video; a far cry from what the original script was. 😂

I've been belligerent about low-quality OSS projects before and people generally don't like it (duh). And when checking my own biases, I do think I'm a little too harsh especially when most of these people are working for free on their own time.

I recorded footage for this video on Linux and Windows. I've picked up a lot of Windows users (mostly in the furry community it seems) and I think I want to pivot the channel to focus more on Open Source Software in general, especially cross-platform stuff.

Kdenlive worked amazingly well on Windows. Scrubbing the timeline was significantly smoother than on Linux. And video effects didn't lag the preview as they do on Linux. Wow!

I low-key hope I annoy some long-time Linux extremists by showing some Windows footage. I don't like the hardcore Linux users and anti-Windows users leaving nasty comments and saying rude things during live streams.

Distro Delves is still largely focused on Linux distros (simply because they are so many) but I want to showcase more Open Source Software that runs on Windows and Linux.

imo we, as a community, should be excited about Open Source in general, regardless of where it runs. Linux is just one of the hundreds (thousands?) of Open Source projects.

What Video Editor Do I Use?

I've used Kdenlive since forever and it is still the best FREE and Open Source video editor available. There are lots of other video editors out there but Kdenlive is truly Free - the code is Open Source for everyone to inspect, copy, or fork, it doesn't cost anything. Amazing video Egee. I agree with that post as well I am fluent between both Linux and Windows. They are both good in their own right.
