2200k Video Teaser? (Patreon)

I was saving this screenshot for the upcoming "ZOMG 22k subscribers!" video, but it's taking forever to get there, and I already need to make a new one so... Here it is.

tl;dr - the YT algorithm isn't indexing my videos, and less than half of all my views come from YouTube Search anymore (in 2018, over 80% came from YT search).

Recent videos, such as the Deepin 20 episode, are more normalized, probably because the channel data is aggregated to include older videos, which inflates the YT search views.

"Browse features" are basically subscribers and other frequent viewers.

The irony is that this shows me that my audience is more engaged with my content than ever, despite YouTube not suggesting or indexing it which is supposedly what the algorithm looks for. 🙄

What does this mean for the channel? Well, it's not exactly growing, and I'm beginning to question how viable YouTube is as the platform for all things Egee.

And I guess that begs the question - what is the goal for the channel?

I think it would be silly to continue on the path I've been meandering down for almost six years now, so maybe it's time to change things up.

Distro Delves is here to stay because people enjoy the series, and the episodes are really fun to make!

I've been thinking about how to bring Egee to life outside channel. I mean, the channel is named Egee, and people seem to enjoy the character and the content (opposed to just Linux content).


While I'm riffing on ideas, I'm interested in what the community - you guys think! Which direction should we take the channel?
