When I created the Distro Delves series in late 2019, I created a couple of other series' as well. One of them was called:

Brunchmarks!

The spirit of the series goes way back to the beginning of the Egee channel when I did Linux benchmarks. That is probably what my channel was most known for a long while.

The idea of performance testing distros was rolled into the tail end of the Distro Delves script and the rest is history. Sort of.

I've had plans to return to benchmarking for well over a year now but the Promethean effort required to produce the videos always holds me back. I'm finally working on the Xfce video in question and I'm reminded of how much I dislike making these videos. 😅

The 2020 edition of the KDE vs Xfce video will be up soon and it is likely the last Brunchmarks/Benchmarking video I will produce for a while. I was considering branding it a "Brunchmarks" series video but I don't want to give the impression that it will be a regular thing.

At this point, I'm looking forward to finishing the video and ending this chapter of benchmarking videos for the channel.

Maybe not forever, but definitely for now. 📕

I personally tend to not watch many benchmarking videos as they only tell me what I can expect if I use your hardware specs. The testing you do in Distro Delves is good and probably sufficient enough because it shows us how differences in software can improve performance of hardware and you're not skewing those results by changing hardware like I've seen in a lot of other videos. Point is do the videos you want to do and we'll still watch them

Thanks man! I'm trying a different methodology for this video. I personally find the results more interesting and its far simpler to replicate. Hopefully people won't hate it! :P
