Team update & grievances

As so may have noticed, I had missed the previous week in terms of update, which is largely due to a lack of content which can be shown. I can only apologise for that, we can assure you that there is work being done, most of it is just not that interesting!

DETAILS FOR THE NERDS OUT THERE!

If you liked the music from our last post, you'll love how it was made by our skilled talent:

"Hi, my name is Jan, and I'm the lead of the audio team for Subliminal. The track shown in this teaser was made with a very focused goal of something hopeful and distant as well dissonant and almost out of place. I use FL studio to produce these tracks, and for this specific one, i used only the Analog Lab V plugin. To start out, I used a piano preset and just recorded myself doing a sort of "fill" with the notes instead of using any percussion or synth elements so that the tone can be more focused. It quickly transitions to these strings accompanied by percussion and a synth pad to kind of just expand on the sound itself but still leave a lot of room for other elements.

An important part of making these strings sound the way they do is by adding in reverb, delay and a pitch drift plugin and then compressing it all to make the sound more boxy and held back and can even give it a sort of CRT tv muffleness to it.

After making an introduction, I introduce a simple sine wave lead and arpeggiate it to build tension, which is very simple and very effective. At the same time the arpeggio is introduced I also bring back the initial piano accompanied by some dry strings, all playing a counter melody that falls in and out of place as the tone of all the instruments drift to give us that off-key effect. I also rendered the track and used a tool in the Edison vst called 'Blur' which tends to smear the sound all over the place and give the illusion of a pad or texture in the song, this part can be heard rising in the background at around 15 seconds from the beginning of the track.

To finish off the track I repeat the process of adding effects and then compressing them all together and making it all have a high quality "lo quality" feeling, at the very core of this track are very simple elements but with quick characterizations and imperfections we can make it all sound personal and filled with emotion and passion."
