Foe- Thank you very much for another reaction for Person of Interest!! I really enjoy this episode a lot. It's great, and even emotional. And I really like the actor who plays Cole... Alan Dale, who yes... definitely plays in Lost, as well as in Once Upon a Time too. I think I've mentioned before that I've never watched more than an episode or two of Lost because it holds no interest for me, but I know he's in it. But I love Alan Dale in Once Upon a Time, this episode of Person of Interest, as well as in a number of others shows too. Alan Dale is a very talented actor. As for this episode's storyline... I really love the overall storyline with two spies facing off against one another. As tragic as it is... I love Cole seeking revenge against those he believes to be responsible for killing his wife, as well as for setting him up for taking the fall for their sins. And sadly, he knows that he wasn't going to survive past that day. Which is why he tells Reese that for him there was no tomorrow. I feel so badly for Reese by the end of this episode. Because he and Cole have so much in common and it's by the end of this episode from both his present day storyline and from his backstory that we see just how alone Reese truly feels. And just how much of a monster he feels he is, even though there is so much more good in him that he knows. I really like how Reese knew that Cole had dug up a stash of weapons, money, etc... basically everything a spy like him would need for his mission, because of his own experiences with doing the same when he was a spy too. And Cole left his suitcase full of clothes on the sidewalk and walked away... simply because he no longer needed them. Now, just so you're aware in case you didn't catch this within this episode... whenever you see a year date appear at the bottom of the screen flash backwards, it helps you to know when a past storyline is being shown within an episode, along with the coloring of the screen getting darker, which you did notice. In regards to Reese' backstory... This is the set up to show us how Reese comes to be the man he is now. The monster he sadly believes himself to be, in spite of him being a real hero. It also shows him slowly beginning to doubt the work he's been doing and why he's still fighting for his country with people he clearly doesn't trust. In the Pilot episode, Finch tells Reese he understands that Reese had come to doubt his work. This backstory from this episode is the set up for what's to come, and it's absolutely brilliant! Oh... and it also shows us how John comes to call himself Mr. Reese, upon being given his name by his old partner, whom Reese called Kara Stanton. Overall... this episode is really good, especially because we come to feel emotional upon seeing Cole trick Reese into killing him in the end in order to protect his wife and daughter from himself. Cole sadly allowed himself to become the monster everyone else who knew him thought he was. Cole did all he did for the love of his country and to rid the world of the true monster. Sadly in doing so, and after having been betrayed by his own teammates and country, as well as his wife, Cole became as much of a monster as those he killed. Most of what he became was of his on making, but not all of it. And he was betrayed by those closest to him, but the good man inside of him wasn't gone completely, and we see this in the end when he's talking with Reese, which is why I feel the emotion we're meant to feel. This ending is tragic. The acting all throughout this episode is really good between Reese and Cole. I love the moments between them in the apartment as Cole is torturing Reese for information using the needles. I love that even though Reese is a phenomenal fighter, even he is seen being taken down by Cole rather quickly despite his age. And I really love that Cole forces Reese to kill him by pretending to intend to kill Anja. It is a very sad moment and I just love how both men feel a connection between one another. Also... the scene where Reese shoots the car transporting the German diplomat to stop it is amazing, because it shows how much of a badass Reese is. I absolutely love it! Thank you again for another great reaction, dear friend! As always, I am very excited for more. Until your next reactions... Thank you! Sincerely, Heidi
