The Witness- Thank you so much for another phenomenal episode!!! I really love this episode a lot. And I love Elias and the continued mystery behind his character. There is so much to why he's doing all he's doing to be revealed in later episodes. I absolutely love that we didn't know until the end of this episode knew who Elias really was or even what he looked like. And the huge plot twist that Charlie turned out to be Elias? Wow! I didn't see that coming at all the first time I watched this episode and I absolutely love it!! It's very sad in a way, because I liked Charlie Burton, the school teacher. But now... he's a big time criminal mastermind. Yikes!! I absolutely love the dialogue exchanges between Reese and Elias as well. Their dynamic is really good. And I love their newly developed rivalry, now that Reese is angry upon saving the life a man who will undoubtedly cause many more numbers to come up, and much more trouble for him and Finch. Also... I absolutely love that in this episode, we get a fantastic nod to some of Jim Caviezel's earlier work, from when Jim Caviezel starred years before this show came out, in The Count of Monte Cristo as Edmond Dantes. I absolutely love that they make a point to show the book Charlie had assigned to his students to read, when Reese and Charlie are hiding out in Will's apartment. I especially love seeing Reese smile slightly when the student mentions that Edmond is a badass and a survivor, just like Reese is too. Jim smiles because the boy is talking about a character he once portrayed and loves. Brilliant!! As for the cop with the scar beneath his right eye, along his cheek working for Elias... He is Elias' right hand man and I really like his character a lot overall too, because there is also a mystery to him we've yet to see. And I didn't expect him to be there at the docks to come pick up his boss when we were led to believe that he was there to kill Charlie, or that he would break into the mobster's home to suddenly kill him for Elias in the end either. I just love seeing him walk off with Elias in the very end too. Poor Reese now feels guilty for letting Elias live and is afraid of how many people's numbers might come up because he did so. I do feel badly for Reese, and he absolutely has every right to feel angry that he had saved this kind school teacher only to learn that he had played him when he discovers he's really Elias. Finch definitely shouldn't have pushed Reese at the end, so I completely agree that Reese was right to just walk off in the end. He's mad alright. And boy... the Elias mystery is a big storyline and it's really good, so I'm really excited for more. :) In answer to your questions about Elias and the cop with the scar along his right eye... he is the son of the woman who had been murdered in the 70s, and the kid shown in the picture in the previous episode... The Fix. This will come to make sense more and more as you continue on with the show. Just as you will get to know so much more about Elias and why he does all he does. But years after his mothers death, he eventually came to learn about his competition from their own children by taking on the persona of Charlie Burton, a high school history teacher in order to be able to study them all just like this episode establishes. Which is quite smart really. Because by teaching and getting to know his students, it allows for hi to get to know their parents really well. Elias is played by actor... Enrico Colantoni, who has starred in a number of shows and movies, and has guest starred in a number of shows too. He's an actor I like very much. Him being Elias of all people seems strange at first, because this show has certainly built up Elias to be this big time criminal and mastermind, and you don't expect an actor with his kind of mannerisms, or his voice to be Elias. But I think it's really brilliant and he plays this role incredibly. Over time, I think you will really come to enjoy his character a lot. As well as his right hand man with the scar... played by actor, David Valcin. They're both fantastic characters. Also... the person Carter shot in the previous episode was most likely the cop with the scar. And I'm guessing she had managed to shoot him in his arm. Elias uses his right hand guy to do a lot of the foot work for him, much like Reese does for Finch. This is why the cop is the one who shoots the Russian mob boss in the end for Elias too, then returns to walk alongside Elias on the boardwalk. And lastly... in case the song being played at the end of this episode throughout the final few scenes sounds familiar to you, you might recognize it as the same song that Lucifer sings and plays on his piano in the opening within the last episode of Lucifer you watched... episode six titled, Favorite Son. Sinnerman, originally sung by Nina Simone. It's a fantastic song, both in Lucifer and in the ending of this episode of Person of Interest too! What a great storyline and I love all of the excitement and the twist in the end. Finch, Fusco, and Carter are great like always, but this is definitely an even greater episode for Reese. So good! Thank you again for more Person of Interest, Reds Reactions!! I'm very excited for more! Until next time...
