I also got a Jotenheim when they first came out and yeah, totally agree that it's one of Schiit's best. In fact out of all their amps this one has the best measurements in terms of THD and IMD.

might be to early sorry Z, but i was looking into the HA1 and was going to get it but now i see the Jotunheim, for the HD800's is jotunheim good or save up for the oppo?

The HA1 is a much bigger and more advanced DAC/AMP. If you want a remote control, Phone app, Bluetooth and built in display the HA1 is worth the wait. But for down and dirty power/separation this Jot will do.

Ignorant question: On the website they make you choose between 2 voltages. What is the difference, please?

i didn't see it on schiit's website, maybe i didn't look hard enough but whats the DAC bit rate? im guessing 24bit 192khz?

Was very interested by this but my current Asgard 2/ SMSL M8 combo does the job fairly well. If i ever wanted to start using balanced cables id probably go for this but thats not possible with my current budget.

I bought the jotunheim amp only due to the head fi'ers saying the dac was inferior to the modi. I currently have an odac and was wondering if you would recommend sending this back to get the dac installed or just running the odac? It will be paired with the LCD 3s if that matters.

I think the Odac is fine. Not sure what the HiFi'ers get on about. They live in their own little world.

headfi is a bit sketchy. They believe in some not science to support why they recommend items.

I got the Jot with DAC because I have Fostex T50RP in both the Talos and Mayflower Version 1, MK3 mods, and soon, fingers crossed, Massdrop will be sending me the ZMF Vibro MK2 Purple LTD cans, assuming the plans do not gang aft agley. I had the Asgard 2 before now, and the Jot is definitely far superior. I agree about the placement of the power switch, but I noticed that the amp does not get nearly as hot as the Asgard, and Schiit even says in the manual that "yes, you can leave it on all the time", though my eyebrows arch a bit at that claim. I also am a big fan of XLR headphone and pre-outs, but think the JOT should have more IN options (SPDIF and coaxial) f, especially as versatility and adaptability to The Future shouldn't require anyone to fix/replace things or technologies that are not broken, and especially as these (Versatility and Adaptability) are being marketed as the JOT's key features. Apart from the USB-IN source connection, my with-DAC unit only allows for RCA-IN connections. I was going to ask a question about the DAC's rating, but see that someone else did and Z spilled the beans. I have a lot of different FLAC files with a variety of ratings (if that's the right word), from 24/96 all the way up to 24/352. So I hooked up the AUNE X1S that I had just decided to selll, via RCA INs on the Jot, and that did the trick. So I'm keeping the X1S. And the AUNE - JOT spread looks very cool on my desk. Plus now I have another spare DAC. So all is well with me, and everything is well, and all manner of things are well.

I have a hard time finding solutions to connect either a coaxial digital (or) toslink (or) 3.5 mm out (or in fact any kind of out) to USB type B DAC in the Jotunheim. Any suggestions?

I honestly don't know of any converter to go from SPDIF to USB. The USB dac is exactly for only usb. You would benefit from a dac-less Jot and then adding a Modi Uber with those connections.

Building my first decent stereo system with sonos connect and Samsung smart TV as sources (will add DAP as a 3rd source down the line), with the Jot as a preamp and emotiva stealths for speakers. Thanks to you, I have caught the bug. Cheers!
