M&O is a top tier company, I have had these for about 8 months, they have broken where the ear cup twists, M&O sent me a replacement part to fix them right away! Then the power button broke, M&O sent me a new headset,,,, Great customer service. Sound is good and better on the cable just as described, love them!

Sony has a Bluetooth version of the mdr-1a which I've been curious about. Wondering what would sound better between those, or other similar quality Bluetooth headphones, and using a decent quality receiver like the fiio btr3. In other words, curious the quality of the built-in DAC/amps/Bluetooth receivers versus the external ones. Is there any reason to buy a Bluetooth version of a can versus just sticking an mpow or fiio on any existing cans, as long as you don't mind the little thingy being there?

ZeosPantera

Hard to say without some extensive testing. Honestly I'd probably just use the built in BT for outside purposes.

Beryllium is my favorite new "secret sauce" .

Makes sense. Sony also has a wired MDR-1A with a built-in DAC/AMP (MDR-1ADAC). I think that and the bluetooth version (MDR-1ABT) would make an interesting comparison, as it might say something about the quality and convenience of bluetooth in general. Of course there are other factors, but we'd have the same cans, and the playing field would be leveled somewhat by both having built in DAC/AMPS (as opposed to comparing bluetooth to a desktop DAC/AMP or even large portable DAC/AMP), so we might see what, if anything, is lost by going bluetooth, either by the compression, or by having a worse DAC/AMP built in (because they have to cram the bluetooth receiver into the same amount of space and for the same price point). Adding in the regular MDR-1A and trying it with the Mpow and the Fiio BTR3, or any quality one that does AptX (comparing external to internal bluetooth) would complete the shootout . You could try from a PC as well for more data points/as a control, but the phone would be the logical testing ground. All available for decent prices on eBay, especially if you go used.

Is the wallpaper suppose to be Pasta and her whoo wore it best?

Everyone’s making Bluetooth cans now. Even KEF and Focal have pairs. I guess it’s a response to removing headphone jacks from phones. Shame if it takes money away from r&d of better sounding products though.

I hope the opposite is true, that the additional profit generated by casual-level Bluetooth would go towards R&D for enthusiast-level tech (which would eventually trickle down into the entry-level stuff).

I've loved my M&Os for quite some time now. The build quality is less than optimal, as Z said. I've had parts of the headband break. However, a little super glue and its all better. Still using them as my closed back headset with the boom pro. I haven't had to break out the guerrilla tape yet.

I have the rbh version of this headphone, they do sound cool- I wanted a bass headphone and they fit that bill well. However one side started to make a rattling sound, like something broke off and is rattling around in the cup... and a couple weeks after that happened that side stopped playing audio. Great, fun sounding headphone, but I would be cautious because of the build quality.

The M&O are turned slightly more neutral than the RBH, I’ve A/B’ed them side by side, RBH have more elevated sub bass. But very similar sound. Excellent!

Holy Handjobs, Batman! The M&O are so much fun. Such soundstage from a Bluetooth headphone is amazeballs!!! I spent the whole day dancing, singing and laughing! Jazz, rock, opera, blues, old recordings, new recordings, all sounded exceptional. I knew when Apple kicked the jack that wireless tech would take a giant leap forward. Streaming music is still an abomination but, for the very 1st time, Cupertino actually did something good for my music appreciation. I can hardly wait for Apple to have the "courage" to invent LDAC.

These all had a moment to shine, except, well...... and then that other one.......but yeah M&Os hold up well for portable use, decent gift idea for someone who you think may like the style of the can. Thats about it, look for a deal.
