The one thing about the UD-301 is that the headphone output has an output impedance of 50 something ohms, meaning it may not sound right unless your headphones are at least 500 ohms. Great DAC though.

Good review I thought I was crazy with this stuff but watching you is like what goes on in my head all day.. I wanted the dac for the fabled dual monaural set up i run my digital in witch would be the modular fidelity blu tooth set to digital out and it can put out two coax at once one would go to the teac and the other directly to the yammy cxa5100 I would then run the XLR out of the teac to the analog in on the cxa 5100 just for the a/b comparison and other Bluetooth and zone 2,3 situations.. Any better solutions? Dig the emo and schitt stuff and anything else thanks BP oh yeah you got me serious looking at those powered emo airmotiv 5 or 6 good work keep it up

No I can't see the volume indicator because you are using a GoPro. Even at 1080p the details are all blurred. I'm sure it's clear as day in real life.

So, Z, are you saying we should get the Fostex HP-4ABL instead if we are looking for a balanced DAC/AMP, yah, that's what your saying right.

I actually purchased the Fostex HP-4ABL and had to return it because I couldn't get the drivers to work. every heard of that problem? considering ordering another one. I have a WA-7 and Cavalli CTH now and the Fostex would round it out as my SS amp. btw, the 1Mores are burned in now and they are just amazing. Just finished a 3 hours session without fatigue.

To me DSD is only worth the mention if the original source material was mastered high enough. Much of the music people want to listen to is 16/44 and then companies upsample to “HD audio”. Now when a studio uses quality equipment with good musicians, and records to a DSD master then you can notice what the difference is between DSD and higher bit depth/sample rate. So for the 97% of the songs you could notice the sonics only 3% of those might have a pure DSD path.
