No custom thumbnail for this one. And I'm too lazy to make one. GOING RETRO!

You're going to have to mod the hell out of these to make them work.

Before I forget, if you want to add the B&W P9 Signature to your review list, let me know. I would venture to guess the comfort of them would excel almost everything else you've tried. Maybe. The sound is absolutely stunning.

The pictures of the internals of the Denafrips DACs on their website look incredible. So clean!

So many Caps.. SO MANY CAPS. Almost too many. Seems the odds of failure would skyrocket.

Interesting. I didn't find the text funny. I have many of the top headsets you've reviewed partly due to your reviews. I didn't think you made an impression before thoroughly testing and living with a device. I can tell you they stack up very, vey well against my Sennheiser 660s and my Massdrop AKG K7X and it's mids and highs match up against my 1060's.

$650 ish so not that bad. Wonder how it compares to a multibit or R2R11

You shouldn't stick anything in your ears other than your elbow.

Allow me to as you this ZeosPantera, I'm new as a Patreon contributor and I chose a higher end plan because I value the work you do in your reviews. My first direct experience is your comment above. Am I to assume you are a less than a respectful person to your Patreon customers and accept such?

General consensus is that it beats Mimby and Bimby, but not Gumby or Yggdy. And better than the R2R11, but not as good as the TOTL DACs from AGD, and the new R2R 1 and 2 from AGD are still too new to have a good grasp on their performance (but look promising). I'm the one who sent Z this stuff, btw. I also own an OL Dac FWIW, but haven't personally heard any other R2R dacs. If you have any questions, feel free to shoot them my way.

What is the relationship between mimby stack and r2r11? Curious since they dropped that firmware upgrade to limit the popping more.

I think you are mistaking his laughing at the situation to laughing at you. We all hear things differently so there cam be great irony in where people fall out.

I was laughing at the fact I have heard massively different opinions of the P9. I thought at first you might have been trying to trick me into listening to them. Like getting me to drive a Yugo and telling me it is better than a ferrari. At some point I will have try them for myself. If you are US based, PM me and maybe I can try your P9's out. Find out the real deal.

Listened to MrSpeakers Voce today...OMG they sound amazing. Financial Crisis incoming for me. Plus got to chat and hugged Dan Clark for the work with the Voce.

I can tell you I cannot find anything short of gushing reviews online with one site ranking it in their top 5. Although I don't have it yet, I just cannot imagine B&W would make shitbox headphones. B&W invited a number of press to their factory / research center where they showed their work and the evidence of the fact they spent 5 years working on the driver and its associated housing. Also, they managed to isolate the driver housing from the rest of the headband mechanism. With the most supple leather in the world from Italy covering the pads and the rest of the structure being made of Aluminum I figured you might have finally found a headset with the build quality to impress. I am in the US and am happy to send them over. I suspect the experienced guys who have reviewed it so far aren't far off the mark and they are saying the sound and quality is absolutely stunning reporting, "But are these worth $900? To an Italian leather aficionado or audiophile: sure". I look forward to your detailed review after living with them for a period of time. Thanks! 'MERICA.

From what I hear, Mimby really isn't worth it. I'm sure it uses a real multibit design, but at best you're only getting a tonal change from it (which really isn't desired regardless). Bimby, while a step up, is said to be fairly similar to just a better version of Mimby, which again, isn't great. With R2R 11 you might actually get speed and clarity bumps from, even if not nearly to the extent of a discreet unit such as the Ares. Personally, I'd say get the Topping D30 unless you need the amp that accompanies the R2R 11. I feel like the Ares is likely the first step up in DACs that is really worth it at all, and I'd only advise it if that's as much as you'd ever be able to spend on a DAC. Now that I've heard the Ares (and it IS an improvement from the cheap delta-sigma stuff for sure, even if the OL DAC is very competent for its price), I just want it gone and to get a Yggdrasil. And thanks! Z helped me discover the awesomeness of Stax so I thought I'd give back and let him review this stuff.
