Actually, I used to work on the assembly line at whirlpool and to add a detachable cable would take about $.35 in parts and 45 seconds to 1 minute if they have a true assembly line. Makes it even more disappointing.

The Beatles do sound terrible. But that sound was intentional, they were the first to sorta use guitar amps and PA's for everything from vocals to instruments they were intended for. I assume it was because they wanted that 'live' sound. They wouldn't sound bad intentionally as they had one of the best equipped sound studios in the world at the time. Then again, I may just be a rambling lunatic fan.

Re-mixed? Was that done by George Martin's son? I may have to have a look. The background noise really annoys me I love how clean the 1 album remix was. Also was good to hear them in true stereo for once.

So they fixed the pitch. God it's a little cleaner, however I'm not liking the placements it's a bit muddy sounding I feel. I'm getting used to it though

I changed the cables on my HD 6xx to some bestintheverse cables. I was expecting to have nicer looking cables that were the right length, for me, and a proper 1/4 connector. I was somewhat surprised at how they refined the sound in general and opened up the treble some. In my case, better cables made a difference.

I noticed a decent change when I made new cables for my HE400i's, I did not notice that much of a difference on my HD650's thought.

I stole it lol, I may go buy the CD. I haven't been able to find any of the Beatles catalogue on HDtracks. I've only bought two albums from there though, had to buy Flowers In The Dirt and Fleetwood Mac's third self titled because you can't get them on CD here in Australia.

Thank you for the great review, Z. So, couple questions. I presume that the gs1000s don't have the same brain melting treble as do the 325/500s, the signature is more neutral except for the drop in bass, yes? Or is it more mid forward to bring out the vocals? Also, unrelated question (send me an invoice if I ask too many questions, btw). Do you know of anyone who will mod my X00 purplehards with detachable cables if I pay them too? Thanks

Mid forward with "enough" low end is how I would describe them. I do not know of any people modding the purplehearts currently. I'd check out head-fi or even post on /r/headphones.

Thank you. I didn't plan on my Purple hearts becoming a portable option, but after changing pads and then comparing to most other portable options, I just can't substitute them. I went ahead and purchased every major contender for a portable set up (mh40, momentum, beoplay, msr7, pro900i, Sine, Edition S, EL-8C, t5p....) with the intent to find my end game portable set up and nothing compares to the Purples for me. I still need to get my hands on the Aeons, and if they are as good or better, problem solved. the X00 sound leak is pretty minimal, so if I can fix the 10' rope that is attached to these phones, they would do it for me (with the Black Label and Pioneer dap) Need to find someone trustworthy to send them too for the mod, if its possible. t5ps are pretty good, but they aren't ALIVE in the same way the Purplehearts are. They have this wonderful sugar glaze of crack that thrills me. Treble is pronounced, but its hurts oh so good.
