regarding the really somber topic of random shootings...you say you can understand somebody going everywhere with a bulletproof vest, but considering that being shot in the head is a real possibility, i would feel way safer having a firearm on me, than having a bulletproof vest. "the best defense, is a good offense" is even more true, when dealing with a split-second life-or-death situation. regardless of how you might feel about guns in general, it's a tool that can transform a situation from one where you are a victim, to one where you end the situation. when it's your life on the line, any other consequence, is inconsequential.

Yes @Yuion, because at that point if everyone was allowed to and would follow your lead @s, everywhere you go could become a potential Wild West shoot out at any moment, especially since there are many situations where you may be uncessarily afraid of someone or something. Not to mention people sometimes become irrational and don’t think straight during some emotional moments or times of great stress, imagine if you or someone who can’t control their emotions well in that situation had a gun on their persons? Man that’s a country/place i would not want to step foot in, ever.
