Weekly Update — 5 (Patreon)

It's Friday again, and you know what that means...

Writing.

This week's chapter is looking to be a little shorter than last weeks, if only because we need to get this train properly moving out of the station and into the nice fresh countryside. It'll probably end up around 6,000-7,000 words long by the time I'm done with it (I'm not done with it yet).

The working chapter title is going to be: Desirable and Undesirable Attention

The style is a little different from previous chapters, mostly because I feel the need to speed up the pace a little bit. I hope you'll like it.

Craft.

This week, I tried out a new tactic while writing a few of my scenes. I wrote all the dialogue first before writing the bits that go around the dialogue, including scene description and such like. Really good witty dialogue is one of the aspects of the craft that I feel I need to work on — and while this week's dialogue is certainly not Oscar Wild, I was nevertheless happy with the experiment's result.
